Just some advice for ‘Sun of a beach’ in oxford. When your staff are in a pissy mood, this easily rubs off on your clients. It is so very easy for a client to feel the negative, bored vibe from the tanning salon and to feel unwelcomed. I popped in for a last minute tanning session, since Id had a rubbish, wet and miserable day in oxford. I thought maybe a tan would cheer me up and help me think of the summer! Altho I cant fault the equipment, price or packages offered here(they are simply the cheapest around, the lay down beds are awesome and you can even listen to music whilst you tan), the feeling that the staff just wanted to ‘get home’ was very clear. As soon as I entered, not so much as a hello or a smile, and when I asked if I could just pay for 30mins or as much as she thought was suitable for my skin, the young girl just huffed and said ‘yep’. No advice as to whether my skin could handle 30mins, no talk through or explanation of the equipment. Nothing. Just ‘huff I want to go home so can you hurry up’. When I asked if she’d had a busy day(making conversation), she just said ‘nope, its boring here’. And boy was she right. The poor thing looked as miserable as the cloudy day outside. But why should I care, she was meant to be cheering me up and helping me feel good about my tan. The whole time I was tanning, all I could think about was how rude and bored she had been, and rather than enjoying my tan, became agrevated. Afterwards, I jokingly said maybe she should get a new career what with the sun being nowhere to be seen in England, and everyone looking pasty, and she just looked at me with a blank expression, and went back to her blackberry! There was no saving this awful experience. It was quite frankly a waste of my time and money. I had wanted to be cheered up and just spend 30mins or so forgetting how rubbish my day had been, and yet this bored whiner had wrecked it. I couldnt believe how bored and miserable she was, and not even a ‘did you enjoy your tan, it looks great, come again’. She promptly closed the door behind me and locked up. Nice, I thought. I wont be going back! I think i will just stay pale!
