Decided to go out for an impromptu dinner this weekend and thought that we should try The George Inn in Old Oxted for a change of area and venue. We fancied something more traditional other than the usual Curry or Pizza alternatives. The George in a wonderfully charming olde World English pub on The High Street in Old Oxted. A charming place if you fancy popping in for some real Englishness and a definite with Christmas just around the corner. The staff were extremely warm and friendly and the menu was great just what we wanted and expected for our traditional dinner and drinks night out. I was tempted my the Lamb shank, mash and veggies and my partner went the whole hog for the Beef burger and fat chips(or thin if you prefer). My lamb shank was Delicious beautifully cooked and the sauce/gravey was fantasticI could have had more. Perhaps I should have asked, I’m sure they would have happily accommodated this request. We shared a starter(they provided us with enough for two, as I wanted to save room for my main) of duck pâté and toast. The bill(including drinks) was very reasonable and we had a lovely evening. I really think this place deserves high things even the Chef came out of the Kitchen and asked if everything was OKthis doesn’t happen often from my past experience. Give it a try if you’re in the area. Well worth a visit for it’s charm, warmth and Great food.
