This place is far better in concept than application. The service is incredibly slow and I’ve never had a meal there when there wasn’t some little problem such as rock-hard stale bread, slightly undercooked burger, burnt-black bacon, tepid coffee, and jam that was more than a year past its sell-by date. These are all examples from separate visits. It’s never enough to send you storming out. But the cumulative effect is that it’s not as good a place as it should be, as you’d like it to be.

Foxy’s Delicatessen is something of a gem in Penarth’s repertoire of shops and eateries. The wonderful selection of produce includes traditional style pink lemonade, freshly baked breads, high quality cuts of meat and an array of cheeses, all nicely on display to customers. With Foxy’s Deli choosing to stock a higher standard of goods, the prices are of course a little steeper than you’d expect to pay in local supermarkets, butchers and convenience stores. However, with the charming young staff and notably delicious food stocked, Foxy’s does represent a happy alternative, with relatively good value for money also ensured. The café section of the shop uses the same high quality meats, breads and cheeses for their eclectic selection of sandwiches, all freshly prepared on the premises downstairs. With a number of drinks and cakes also available, Foxy’s not only serves as a deli, but as a pleasant café with it’s tasteful surroundings and lively atmosphere. Take away service is also available for sandwiches and cakes which simply adds to the high quality of service offered.

Foxy’s Deli is a charming eatery in Penarth that serves a range of sandwiches, salads, and cakes to eat in or takeaway, in addition to items like teas, chutneys, sauces, and other deli food. I’ve only been here once, where I ordered a roast turkey sandwich on wholemeal bread to take away. Everything was fresh, but admittedly it wasn’t the best meal I’ve ever had. It was just turkey and cheese on standard brown sandwich bread(smeared with mayo, which I regrettably forgot to ask them to leave off). The highlight for me was the caramel bite I ordered, a small, rotund shortbread topped with a thick coating of caramel and chocolate. It was delicious, but a bit overpriced at 95p each. Foxy’s Deli has a pleasant, small-town feel to it, but it wasn’t the best eatery I’ve been to. I prefer Madam Frommage or New York Deli if I’m hungry and craving something substantial. Please note Foxy’s Deli also offers a free home delivery service for orders over £20.

An essential part of Penarth town and one of the few places that make me proud to show people around my hometown. Although not the best deli in the area(Barry and Dinas Powys have much better delis in my opinion) the location(opposite the gateway to penarth that is the train station) and the atmosphere in the café make it a brilliant place that Penarth can be proud of. A good selection of meats, cheeses and pates, and probably the best selection of bread in Penarth. The prices are definitely on the high end, but that’s what you expect in a privately owned deli! The service sometimes let’s the place down however — some of the staff often seem moody and grumpy and frankly annoyed at the fact that they have to serve you. Another negative is their lack of chicken tikka! But overall, it’s easily one of the best shops in penarth

Oh dear, it doesn’t sound like Tiffany had the best of experiences with this place. I on the other hand find it very difficult to fault. It’s lovely to have somewhere like this just a moment’s walk away, and I’m a regular popper-inner. If anyone is familiar with Wally’s deli in Cardiff city centre, then this is like the miniature version. It has a grand selection of meats and preserves and everything good and bad for you in between. The main problem with it is the pricing of some items. I suspect this is because the items themselves are exceptionally good quality and are all local sourced, but some things are just sadly out of my price range. The freshly baked bread, however, any most delicious items, and well within it, and well appreciated!

I always thought Foxy’s had the potential to be great but sadly both times I’ve been there I’ve been disappointed. Once bought a crayfish sandwich only to find(when I got back to the office) it had a little dead… something… stuck to the bread. Second time was just the purchase of some cheese which left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. Still, people rave about this place so I must be missing something. I keep willing it to be great because it’s the exact kind of place that thrives in a town like Penarth but sadly I don’t have the best experiences. Perhaps it’s just me though, because everyone else seems to really love it.

This is a great little shop selling all the classic things. The staff are very friendly and although the pricing can be a little high it is worth it for the high quality. There is also a small café from which you can get coffee, tea, cakes etc There is parking directly outside the shop but it easy to walk too if parking is not an option

Every town need a Deli and Foxy’s is one of the best. The store is a touch on the compact side with goods everywhere but some of the products are fabulous and save you a trip in to Cardiff. Fresh anchovies and freshly baked bread, wonderful chutneys, quality marscapone and a super selection of local and classic cheeses. There is also a café at the rear of the shop which always smells delicious and the staff are courteous and friendly. The only downside is that it is a touch on the pricy side, but quality costs and it certainly isn’t harming the sucess of Foxy’s.
