I have been coming to the Waterside Meadery since I was about 2 years old! It has been a family favourite for over 50 years and it is great that the menu has barely changed in that time. The atmosphere inside is fantastic, very rustic, with lanterns, cannonballs and allsorts of piratey artifacts hanging from the ceilings. Great for kids and adults alike, and its great to finish off a big meal with a stroll round the harbour. It is still my restaurant of choice when I come and visit Cornwall. Very much recommended :-)

Medieval themed restaurant that has become almost a Cornish tradition. The food is dead simple and largely friend chicken and chips with«mead wine». Don’t expect fine cuisine but it is really fun and ideal for families.

If you like a good slap up meal for a fair price, then this is the place. Nothing fancy, just big meals in a rustic surround. This one has a nice view over the harbour.

A good value for money meadery similar to the others in Cornwall. The food is great value, the mead is amazing and gets you drunk very quickly! Its a great place for any occasion and the kids love the novelty of eating with their fingers. There are smaller portions available for adults who wont eat the mammouth portions they serve. The drawback with this location is the fact there is no private parking, you need to use a public car park a few minutes walk away and the tables inside the restaurant seem to be crammed in.

This is a lovely meadery down on the waterside in Penzance. It is themed in a medieval style with wooden tables and benches, candles on the tables and low lighting. There is often pipe music or something similar playing quietly in the background, which is also nice for setting the mood. The food is served on wooden plates and bowls, and no cutlery is given unless your meal type requires it or you actually request it. The waitresses are dressed as serving wenches and you wash your hands between courses using little wooden bowls of water with a piece of lemon floating in them! The signature dish is called chicken in the rough, which is half a chicken cooked in a special oven with gorgeous crispy skin. It is served with chips although you can pick salad or half and half if you want as well. There is a great choice on the menu of starters, mains and desserts and the food is lovely. Although this is 30 mins or so drive from us my dad still prefers to go there than any of the closer ones!
