Possibly the most awkward experience I have had in any Plymouth shop. There are bright lights and big open windows showing off lots of modern artworks. i am interested in some current local artists and decided to take a look. There was a guy sitting at a table inside by the stairs. The door was locked and I pressed the buzzer. He just turned on his chair and ignored me. Eventually he pressed the release. I began to look around but was cross-examined as to my intentions and told that the four pictures I had looked at were all priced well in excess of £10k. The man went grumpily back to his chair and a little later appeared to take part in a remote art auction giving instructions to someone on the other end. I had barely been in the shop for ten minutes before I was gruffily told that he had to conduct business and would have to close the shop. Well how does he expect to sell anything. If he only takes customers by prior appountment only there should be a big warning notice on the front window.
