Great food, very pricy but really worth it on special occasions! They also have a very reasonably priced lunch menu, but don’t expect big portions

You wouldn’t go here to enjoy yourself. It is very expensive except for the lunch deals. It doesn’t feel physically or socially comfortable. You would have more fun and good food in loads of other places.

Ironic combination of dark sombre setting with prissy staff and better than average food. Maybe the time has come for the bros to move out of the building and move the operation to somewhere new where the décor and enclosure would not blight the experience for the punter.

Anyone who appreciates good food will love Tanners. It is the antithesis of cheap and cheerful. It is a great eating experience but it is demanding, you cannot be casual with this food, the amount of care and creativity that has gone in to producing it demands that you take it seriously.
The food is outstanding, the flavours subtle, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients make the very best dishes.
A mark of the professionalism of Tanners is that we had a slight delay on our desserts, we did not complain, but we were given a free liqueur and not charged for the dessert!
I will not wax lyrical over every dish we had, all you need to know is that this is the best restaurant in Plymouth. You really have to try it, an outstanding experience.

Odd place. Some people find it the best around and others a dark oppressive interior with snooty staff and expensive disappointing food. I tend to the latter view.

Consistently one of Plymouth’s best restaurants. I think it is only surpassed by the Artillery Tower. I have always had very good food here and at weekends it is essential to book ahead. I do not however recommend the covered courtyard area so if you can ask to be seated inside. In the past I have found the staff to be a little snooty, but am pleased to say on my recent visits they have been friendly and efficient. I recommend this place to eat.

It is a very lovely place. It is a bit on the pricey side of things but for the quality food you get it is well worth it. Very friendly staff and speedy delivery. Very enjoyable!

Hadn’t been for a while. Liked it. There were six of us. The service was well timed and friendly. The food was consistent and good, balanced with good flavours and some interesting combinations, i wanted to hate the pork with vanilla and pineapple but strangely it worked! The cannelloni of rabbit starter was excellent. Wines priced sensibly to give you some reasonably priced options. Not sure I like the building, has the feel of a mediaeval banqueting room but enjoyed it and worth the visit.

Small restaurant with excellent service and fantastic food, definately one for that special occasion.
