What is happening here? Is it Plymouth or Smiths which is the problem. Badly organised, too closely crowded isles and shelves not a great selection of anything and tawdry till area with mostly discount confectionary deals. What a mess. Not attractive or easy to shop in. Depressingly down market to shop in, bit like a pound shop.

This is much better for magazines and chart books as opposed to specialist books. It does have a good selection of travel books though. Spread out over 2 floors, this store offers a broad selection of stationary and games, dvds and cd’s for you to browse. Often has a good selection of offers on.

A superb stockist of every kind of magazine you can think of! There is also the usual stationery and card sections which are very varied and upstairs is books, music, games and video games all at typical high street prices. The DVD section has a great range not just chart films but great box set ideas and TV series too. Registering with their privilege club now means they often send out vouchers to be used in all areas of the shop.

A great shop for browsing– if you cant find the magazine you want here I dont know where else you’d find it in Plymouth! Well stocked with mags, books, DVDs/CDs, stationary and printer inks etc. They often have sale prices and if you join the online WHSmiths club you receive vouchers you can redeem in the store for more discounts. Look out by the printer inks as I have often seen discounted ink cartridges here. An easy layout with a lift at the back of the store– although this sometimes takes a while to arrive! The staff are very friendly and helpful and there are several tills so that even when its busy the queue doesn’t take too long.

The best magazine shop in Plymouth, they also stock a good range of stationery. Upstairs is books and DVDs, with the top releases in front of you as you go up the escalator. Staff are friendly and helpful, and you can always find one lingering around the shop-floor. The shop also sells lottery tickets, and has a nice supply of jigsaw puzzles. The DVD range caters for more than just blockbuster demand, and includes a good selection of TV programmes and BBC series. If you’re a more discerning viewer, then check out the DVDs at W H Smith.
