OK, the building is not a work of art, but if it’s swimming you’re after, this is the place. The main pool is 33m long. There is also a diving pool with 3 boards at different heights. The changing areas have been modernised; now there is a members’ only changing area, alongside the non-members area. There is also a sauna for members, which is a nice addition. The prices for membership are very reasonable; unlimited swimming is available for a modest monthly fee. You can park in the car park adjacent to the pool and swimming sessions are not timed; you can get out when you like. A good facility for keeping in shape

This building is a monument to the sixties — ugly, out of place and really ugly! They’ve tried to jolly it up inside, but lets leave that now. There are two pools — one not quite Olympic size and a childs pool. There is also a gym. If you are going to swim, I don’t think you notice the heat. If, however, you are there to watch your child practice strokes, take water with you! The seating area is upstairs, a lot of them, and a one step up from bleachers. It is very warm! Wear layers and remove them when you get there. The accoustics are dreadful, no one in the pool will hear you yelling at them. In the changing rooms there is an air dryer — not for hands or hair, but for the whole body! And it’s cubicles, not communal. Their swimming lessons seem pretty together and well organised, with a good reward system. I haven’t seen the gym here, but they had a grand re-opening last year, so it’s all refurbished.
