On 17th Feb 2011 the Ancient Britton thankfully changed hands, it has been taken over by a local couple who I am sure will bring the pub back to what it once was. They put on a very impressive buffet for everyone last night which was first class, not that surprising as they had previously been running Porthcawl RFC bar and hospitality. I have used this pub on and off for over 25 years and cannot remember a better night than last night. The pub was packed with a great atmosphere so many thanks to the new tennants and the hardworking bar staff who made my night so enjoyable.

After experiencing a completely clueless pair of tenants since October 2010 — who are now leaving — this pub will change hands on 17 February 2011. Now we’ve got a good chance of getting our local back

Well described by Cloudwood(purists might argue it is in Nottage or Danygraig but what the hell). Excellent place to sit on a warm day, shaded by the huge tree at the front, looking out over the green towards the church — very popular summer spot with the picnic benches, boundary wall opposite and the green itself to spread out over. Gets 4 stars for its location, but agree that should be 3 otherwise, for fairly uninspiring(old fashioned — though might appeal to some) inside. Hope this is helpful.

A Newton village pub — with a great view onto Newton green and the Norman church. There are two rooms, situated around a central bar, along with a large beer garden(with a big smoking shelter) and plenty of tables out front. Big car park. The usual range of drinks, and mediocre pub food. The Brit has a pool table, and various entertainment throughout the week(singers, bands, quiz) — especially during in the summer. This is a popular pub in the summer and winter months — mainly for drink and entertainment — but fine for a basic meal if you’re not too fussy.
