Beaches need more places like the Tate Café. A lovely, sedate building that compliments the beach rather than clashes, it sits opposite the Tate Modern in St. Ives. Food is tapas based, and absolutely delicious. We tucked into some serious monkfish here, doused in caramel, pineapple and chilli. Such a refreshing change from the norm! On a glorious, warm day this place is wonderful — you can sit outside, or in, so it can work in most weather.

Great views over Porthmeor Beach, and fantastic local food. Had an excellent crab sandwich(local Newlyn crab) and was amazed at how much crab there was as well as with the quality. That, plus a scone and clotted cream made for a great snack! (No museum entry fee for going to the Café.)
