Portobello Beach

Portobello Beach is a very nice one in the capital city of Scotland. It’s usually too cold and windy to sunbathe, but I generally prefer walking on beaches anyway. And this is a lovely beach to walk on!
The promenade has lots of nice cafés, chippies, and shops so you can pop in if it gets too chilly or suddenly starts raining. The beach itself is usually full of families and people walking dogs, and generally having a good time. It’s a nice place to hang out, and I recommend it.

Em um dia de sol, coisa rara no outono escocês, decidi ir para a praia. Peguei o ônibus público –tem vários que passam por lá, lembre-​se de comprar a passagem da volta junto com a ida, sai mais barato. Sentei no banco do segundo andar para ir olhando o caminho.
Chegando lá –não tem erro, você vai ver o mar– fui logo indo para a orla. Fui no outono, então mesmo com o sol estava muito frio, nada de biquíni para mim. A orla é cheia de pessoas andando e se exercitando. Na água, os aventureiros para a água fria, praticavam esportes. Para não dizer que não entrei na água, eu molhei a mão, só para dizer…
Andei até cansar pela orla, sentindo a brisa fria. Quando cansei, queria um capucino quente e logo vi uma quase kombi (algum modelo que não chegou no Brasil e não sei o nome) verde com muita gente fazendo fila. Foi ali mesmo que peguei um capucino orgânico bem preparado.
Sentei e fiquei olhando o mar… Para saber, na verdade isso não é mar é rio. A água vêm do mar norte, mas é rio –coisas que o Google pode fazer por você.
O passeio é super agradável, as casinhas da orla são umas fofuras. Vale um domingo com sol!

A nice local beach for the people living in or visiting Edinburgh to enjoy.
Portobello Beach is a nice, little beach with an average promenade that has a few places to eat, places for kids to play, and a nice view of the sea (mainly to the left). I’ve stopped by here for a little afternoon relaxation on a couple occasions and I have to say, on a nice sunny day, this beach can be fun to hang out at –despite the crowds of people.
My experiences at this beach are good overall. A couple of drinks at The Espy and some good company is all that I need to enjoy Portobello Beach. I also found the beach to be pretty clean overall and very family-​oriented. On a nice day, everyone in the city will bring their kids to the beach, so be prepared for that.
For us adults, it is still a good place to hang out at and get sunburned while enjoying the rare Edinburgh sun. I will likely be back sometime this summer with friends –especially because so many of them have not actually made it out to the beach yet. I would recommend this beach, although nothing about it will overly-​impress you.
Pro tip: If coming from South Bridge, take the 45 or the 49 bus to get there and back.
