A typical weatherspoons offering cheap food. Stuck to the burger as at least you know it’s cooked on the grill. Burger was slightly overcooked and the chips weren’t as crispy as you would hope. (Visit — 21/​05/​2014 Lunch)

Crowded and can get a little rowdy. But cheap and convenient.

I liked the Admiral Byng. It’s pretty much just like every other Wetherspoons pub – the crowd’s an interesting mix, good selection of beers, really good food. I’m always happy with Wetherspoons.
I’m not a beer drinker at all, but I know this place has a good selection. And they were nice enough to let my husband sample a few before making a decision. We ordered our drinks and went to a table to decide on a meal. The Admiral definitely has more of a restaurant feel than a pub, but it works. The menu is extensive and inexpensive, which is my favorite combination! The husband ordered nachos and I had a roasted veggie and couscous salad. Less than £10! And that salad was one of the best I’ve had in a long time.

This JD Wethersppons pub is very pleasant with a great mix of people. The prices are extremely good for both drinks and the food. A pint of real ale for only £1.89 and a great meal from only £1.99 — it’s brilliant. Wetherspoons use free-​range eggs and if you read the Wetherspopns magazine they clearly explain the source of their quality ingredients of all their food. My wife and I visit every Friday evening as they do the best ham egg and chips for miles around. They also do a great English breakfast from 9am.

This is a Wetherspoons pub, and I have used it for about two or more years. It was a quiet place and mostly used by families. Now it is very busy and used by large groups of youngsters. Although saying that there are a number of us older customers. It has a fine selection of beers and the food is good value. The décor is clean and tidy with comfortable seating. It gets very busy at the bar in the evening time, and on a number of occasions there were not enough staff. Some staff do spend time chatting to people and not paying attention to those waiting to be served. Generally though they do a good job. Going there about every fortnight or so you do not often see the same people behind the bar. If you want a cheap meal and a drink then this is the place. It is not a cosy place to have a quiet chat.

If you like Wetherspoons then you’ll probably like this place. It’s either filled with a platitude of coffin dodgers or a gaggle of yobs lubricating themselves up before heading off to other pastures. It is a pub only in name as it has no soul. Wetherspoons are cheap for a reason and that’s because there is nothing to them bar sub standard food and cheap booze catering to the sort of outs who know no better. The only good thing about a place like this is that it keeps the underage, the slovenly and the down right scum away from decent establishments. Before you ask, I’m 21 even if this review does make me sound like I should be in my late 50’s.

The usual Wetherspoons, decent cheap beer, and decent cheap food. This is a converted Iceland store, but doesn’t look like it! Open fire, books to read, comfy chairs, it somehow looks cosy despite its vast area. And it is packed most weekends, quite busy most lunchtimes, and fairly full the rest of the time.
