Since my original review over 3 years back The Greyfriar has only improved. A recent refurbishment included new toilet facilities-much needed!- and new seating areas and continually improving selection of real ales. The food however continues to be sub-standard compared to other Wetherspoons. The prices are still great and there seem to be even more promotions than ever especially on real ales. The real ale selection is particularly impressive with a wide range of ales available that change regularly-all at good prices. A new, second Wetherspoons has recently across the other side of the city-The Twelve Tellers which is a Lloyds No. 1 bar-so it will be interesting to see how this affects the trade here although I expect the 2 Wetherspoons to compliment each other due to the different brand types and locations. Preston’s pubs and bars look to be getting better now with a few new openings and some others also in the pipeline.

If you have ever been to a Wetherspoons, then you will know what The Grey Friar is all about. .Typically humungous inside and getting very busy at popular times. Once again staff shortage let these places down. No visible method or order with which you get served, bit of a bunfight at times. Good cheap starting point for that all important pubcrawl. Centrally located.

A great starting place for a night out with friends & family if you are in the city centre. The bar staff are friendly & well dressed but sometimes the service can be very poor and I have been known to wait unnecessary long periods of time to get served. The menu is like all Wetherspoons pubs, a nice range of food, good special offers and the the quality of the food is decent as well. The pub is very spacious with plenty of room to sit and manouvre. Overall, there are far worse pubs to visit in the city centre.

This place is great if you’re after a cheap night out or a place to meet with your friends at the start of the night. The drinks are very very cheap and the food is very reasonable too. The food isn’t too bad in this pub but i’ve had better, i generally have a panini or burger when i go and i can guarantee that the salad that it’s served with will be very wilted as though it’s been stood there for a while.

One of the Wetherspoons chain of pubs, it is situated opposite the Market car park, and near to the city centre. The pub is clean, warm and friendly. They are currently running a beer festival and you will find a good selection of real ales, to suit all prices and tastes. The food is excellent value for money and many will come with a drink included in the brochure price. I had a roast beef there last week and it was as good as can be expected, served well and inunder 15 minutes with a good range of vegetables. The drinks were included in the price and afforded a good Sunday lunch. Staff are friendly and on first named terms with the regulars. There are also flat screen tvs with sky sports on and news, and there is also a wifi service available. The toilets are clean and well maintained. I can recommend a visit if you are in the area.

This place is a typical Whetherspoons, but also a little more — good food, good service, good booze, and a great atmosphere. Within stumbling distance of the wonders of Preston’s night life too!

Grey friars is a very traditional weatherspoons pub. It serves good tasty pub food too. It has many offers on for food and drink like pint and curry night on a Wednesday. Especially good for the wide range of drinks or the availability of the rarer ales and ciders. It is quite big and spacious but on a Saturday night it can get quite packed. The staff are very friendly and always serve with a smile. Nice affordable prices and a great atmosphere. I really recommend this pub its just a shame that it doesn’t have its own car park and when its busy you can have a long queue at the bar.

food here doesnt always match the price the 2 for 6.95 option is not bad but is a bit hit and miss sometimes the food is fantastic and other times its not very good. cant seem to get the temperature of the food right. seems to hang around in the kitchen for quite a while before it gets to you. it seems the quieter this pub is the worse the food is . the sunday lunch option is usually good value and very nice but the more expensive options such as the steaks etc dont justify the price.
