Adopt comedy Brummy accent. «Hillow, i’d like to buy your horse.» Memo to self. Don’t answer the phone while walking into Pret. I nearly ordered the horse and mushroom soup. All I could think was«i could eat a horse». As it was, the CHICKEN and mushroom soup was nearly cold. Pret is normally so reliable. Ps. It was a wrong number. Pps. I don’t have a horse. Ppps. I am not Belgian

I’m not sure how I’ve missed reviewing this Pret, which is located on Broad Street at the entrance to the Oracle Shopping Plaza. There is another Pret only 300 meters(«300 yards» in American) to the west, on the other side of the Broad Street pedestrian zone. Following the usual Pret style with a large cooler(and warmer!) of sandwiches, drinks and cakes, there is also a speedily-operated espresso machine behind the counter with young helpers making lattes, cappuccinos and the like with regular, skim or soy milk. There are 12 so tables indoors and another 10 outside. While you’re not permitted to smoke inside the Pret boundary ropes, nothing stops a jerk from lighting up just outside and polluting your otherwise excellent sandwich. For the sandwiches, I really recommend the Falafel & Chunky Humous and the Mozzarella Pesto Bloomer. If you simply have to eat meat, the The New Yorker Bloomer with salted beef is a treat. All go well with the Spicy Piri Chilli Crisps!

YUMMY! This place does the best sarnies ever. Its expensive though but you get what you pay for to be honest in this shop. There are a few little tables and chairs to plonk yourself for a little while. A nice place to go and sit for half an hour when the weather is cold, with a hot drink and a piece of banana cake

Sandwitches are gorgeous, but all a little deceptive, salad wrap comes in at a whoppingly high calorie count(can check it on their website, which is a bonus. Prices seem to be moving upwards also.

Pros This Pret is well located in the Oracle shopping centre in Reading town centre. The shop floor is fairly large for a café and has a few tables and chairs scattered about, and is well decorated in traditional Pret style. The food served is standard Pret fare– yummy sandwiches, bagels and wraps, with the standard drinks. The staff are polite and friendly and more than happy to cater to picky eaters– which is great for me as I’m particularly fussy! Cons The café does get particularly busy on a Saturday, making it hard to find a table.
