This place is close to where I live. The pub used to be very nice and had a cozy feeling. The art decorations were amazing. The food used to be very good as well. I loved thier sunday roasts. Visited last night to have the Sunday roast again. I shocked to see the pub has been distastfully renovated. The character of the pub has been destroyed to the point that it now looks like a tacky cheap place. The food was the last nail in the coffin for this place. The roast was un edible. Small diced vegitables used for soup was server with a few slices of undercooked meat. It was an utter disappointment. I am upset at how this place has been destroyed.

Nice little pub in beautiful Richmond right next to the park. Cosy atmosphere with a traditional pub feel. The fish & chips was a great choice as includes a HUGE and yummy piece of battered cod. Chips were crunchy & more-ish. Would have like to have opted for a steak but was a bit too pricey. Drinks also on the slightly steep side. Bloody mary’s made well though!

This place is right by the entrance to Richmond Park and so makes a good pre-visit refuelling spot. Not tried the food though. It has a nice outdoor area and the interior is calm and kind of like a gentleman’s club-all leather sofas and a grandfather clock. Pretty nice but there is muzak playing-why.why.why! Ales are Youngs and maybe one guest ale-underwhelming. I wouldn’t make a special trip to this establishment but it beats the dreary Roebuck on the Hill.

Went here before a cheeky, sneaky swim with a group in Richmond Park, lovely country pub feel, and great space inside and out. The staff were very attentive, and attractive… Some great pictures on the walls and a nice fire for the colder months. Had the sausages and mustard mash, caramelised onions and gravy. Portions are not big but enough to stave off hunger, especially pre swim. Only issue we had was the heat, the place was so hot inside, even the staff didn’t know why as the heating was off. All in all a homely, friendly place with good service and tasty food in a fantastic location.

Great food, were able to sit in the private dinning room where it was quiet and there was great service! Lovely roast meal and attentive staff!

I held an event for colleagues here and Imogen, the general manager, was excellent. We started with lunch and it was great. The lamb roast was good and the ambiance was lovely. Lots of green out and secluded. Family friendly and lovely people. I would definitely recommend it. The event food was ok, not too fancy, but in general fine!

While in London on Business, I was staying at the Richmond Hill Hotel and found this place one block over. I was glad to have a nice pub such as this so close to the hotel! I was green to the English Pub experience as this was my first trip to London, so I lucked out that this was the closest place. I had the fish and chips. It was delicious and the piece of fish was large! The fries(chips) were well seasoned and tasty. I know this dish isn’t something you usually spend a lot of time reviewing, so I’ll move on. On three more occasions during my say, I found my self there if for no other reason than convenience, and each time, the food was great, the atmosphere was warm and inviting and they had a moderate selection of ales that I have not seen stateside. I found the London Lager to be a nice ale with a well balanced flavor and not too heavy. The wait staff at the Lass is top notch. They genuinely look out for the customers and make your experience as pleasant as possible. They’re friendly and you can tell they take pride in their work. If you are out in the Richmond area of London, this is a great pub to stop off at. It’s not in the downtown area of Richmond and you’ll either need to hike up the hill past Richmond Park to get there, but in my opinion, it’s worth it.

Took the fam. here for a roast, and loved it. Booked a table, so got to sit at the back, where it’s a little less frantic. Great atmosphere: homely and family friendly but full of couples and groups of all ages. Lovely décor too. Ordered some wine from a helpful waiter and it turned up quickly, roast beef was delicious(the cauli cheese croquettes are genius) and everything is well priced. Dessert didn’t blow me away, but I’ll just chose not to have that next time. Finished up with a walk in the park. Perfect Sunday outing.

We lived down the street and around the corner so we were regulars. We loved talking with the staff which included folks from New Zealand, Aussies and South Africans. Great toasty fires on cold, wet nights and reliable food all the time and nice beer and wine selection all at nice prices considering where you are. Afterwards walk past the Star and Garter and Pete Townsend’s place and sit a spell overlooking Petersham Meadows. Dang, wish I was there now!

This was a convenient stop for us when we went to Richmond Park. We’ve had lunch here twice, once on a Sunday, another the following Saturday. The place was busy on Sunday with many coming for Sunday Roast. We had a burger, fish and chips, and one chicken roast. The food was not bad but we waited a very long time for our food. The Saturday lunch was much more relaxed, I think we were one of only 3 or 4 parties there. Roasted parsnip soup was delicious. Pricey for what it is.

Now owned by Youngs, this is a very cosy pub and restaurant with ample car parking at the rear. We had a family dinner for 8 and it was great. Low level music which was appreciated by the older members of the party! Very good food, service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.

This is one of my favourite haunts — but it it would be true to say that it can be a bit hit and miss! The food and service can either be great… or truly awful! Weekends tend to be busy, but if you want a quiet, unhurried meal mid-week, this is the place to go. When I was there last Monday evening it was almost completely deserted. Located so close to the centre of Richmond(which is a complete nightmare for parking), it’s hard to know why the Lass(which has plenty of free parking) isn’t more popular than it is. Goodness knows how they keep going, but I’m glad they do! Last week my meal was superb. The salmon with garlic and lemon was perfect and the rhubarb and ginger crumble which followed was to die for! I can honestly say I’ve never had better.

Once upon a far, far away time in a far away land, young Frederick went to college down the road from here and minored in darts and beer drinking. It was a heady time, finally away from the parental grasp, in a foreign land on my own, discovering different cultures. realizing that the world was far different than I had believed, learning to be an adult. The Lass quickly became a de facto second home — a British pub is similar yet far different than an American bar — other than just a place to drink it is in fact a second home for most Britons, where they socialize, eat, play darts and billiards, and drink, drink drink. Everyday. Back in that far away time it was actually unbelievably cheap, and the beer flowed. Us Americans came here as Yanks but we quickly socialized with our British cousins, learnt their games and habits and actually became a lot better at them than they were. Many a dart match was played and won, and at one point we became bold and a friendly rugby game was played, the American lads against the British ringers. Our team only had one experienced rugby player, an Iranian lad educated in the British public school system, and in a half hour he taught us the rudiments of the game. Luckily it’s an easy learn and all that is really required is energy, of which we had a lot. We completely destroyed the Lass team, that included a London bobby, the bartender and various other denizens of our fair Lass. At the end of the game we went, where else, to the Lass, to celebrate, our winded British pub competitors in tow. Beer bellies we had not, then. The Lass is actually a very large pub, with several bar areas, large rooms, a separate dining area, and an outdoor patio for summer carousing. Think King’s Head in Santa Monica, and double the size. With a great jukebox. On the top of Richmond Hill, it is across the street from Richmond Park, a former hunting ground for the royal family. Still stocked with herds of European Elk, you have to pay attention during rutting season, and signs are put out warning you to keep a safe distance fro the testosterone filled males. It’s a beautiful park, huge, and Richmond is a beautiful suburb of London, situated on the lovely winding Thames, just next door to Wimbledon. I did come back to the Lass about 12 years ago, and, still buzzing with the convivial cheer I cherished as a student and still do, it had not changed. I expect, like a lovely memory, it never will.

This is a nice Chef & Brewer pub, which has roaring fire places, sofas and nicely tucked away dinner areas suited to families. The place is fantastic to chill out in, the food is delicious, however the service was terrible when I last visited. It really let it down for me. Otherwise, this is a big pub with a lovely intimate and warm feel to it. I would recommend this for cosy drinks with someone you enjoy long chats with!
