Nope. Just nope. I can’t recommend this place. During an outing in Richmond with my in-laws, this place was chosen for lunch. I’d walked past before and was unimpressed with the menu. I feel I was right in my assessment as it only got worse upon actually eating there. The theme is American-ish, the food is like nothing at any American diner. Strange combinations, pseudo regional fare, & generally just weird descriptions. 4 of us dined for lunch and they messed up 2 orders. My chicken«burger»(sandwich on a bun) was so covered in thick, awful BBQ sauce that it was hard to eat. Milkshakes were small, thin & didn’t appear to have any ice cream in them which added up to being wholly overpriced. Service was fairly dreadful. 2 stars as the others didn’t hate their food totally and the Oreo milkshake, though thin and tiny, tasted nice. I won’t be back.

My family had dinner after a walk in the park. All our food was poor, two of my older boys had a burger one took a few bites and didn’t finish despite being hungry, my husband had the pulled pork sandwich and ate it only because he was hungry and I had the taco salad that was drowning in what I think was salad dressing and I didn’t finish it despite being hungry. Would not recommend. Sorry I usually don’t write poor reviews and keep my comments to myself, but this was pretty poor.

This dainty diner sits just off Richmond High Street and is less than a 5 minutes walk to the river. I found the outdoor sitting area and the dim and modern interior of the Diner very inviting. As our previous restaurant had us wait a long while for a table of 11, we tried to get a table at Urban Diner and at the entrance, we were quickly shown to a table without a fuss. The waitresses were very welcoming and quickly attended to us. The lady servicing our table seems overwhelmed by the amount of people which came across as impatient but soon after, she warmed up to us and was nice to the kids which is always refreshing! There are quite a few choices on the food menu and some dishes come better as a sharing platter. I had some of the Chicken Wings, Chicken Fillet and Ribs which tasted good but the Salad had no taste to it as it was a bunch of chopped vegetables thrown into a bowl with no flavoring. The burgers looked really nice and those who had it didn’t seem to complain-except that it was way too much to finish! The Mac And Cheese which came as a side however, I would not want to have again… Flavorless and not enough Umph! to it. Generally, the crowd were pleased but also had some opinions about some of the food. Overall, the good is fine but if I was to go again, I would stick to what they probably do best. Chicken and Ribs.

We went to Urban Diner on a busy Saturday afternoon… four adults, one child and one toddler. Eating out with young kids is always a little hectic, but the staff at Urban Diner couldn’t have been more accommodating. Seriously impressed with the service here! More importantly, the food was great too! Ordered the surf and turf, with a side of fries(which I hardly touched as my main dish was so filling… the manager there did warn me that there would be a lot of food!). It was all pretty good quality, and would definitely recommend Urban Diner to others. Would be nice to see them open a little bar area too, as the cocktails were gorgeous!

We spotted this American style diner whilst on a day out in Richmond. We were having an early dinner before the theatre and this place was busy at 5pm, which we saw as a very good sign. The cute booths were all taken or reserved for parties but we were offered a table for two in the middle or to sit at the counter. The counter is quite an American thing to do but I prefer not to(I like my feet to touch the ground and have a back on my chair) so we went for one of the small wooden tables down the centre between the booths. It was perfectly fine. We ordered the BBQ meat platter to share and a portion of fries on the side. I also ordered a banana and nutella milkshake. The platter was big for two and had ribs, wings, pulled pork, corn on the cob and slaw. It arrived without the slaw and it took ages to get someone’s attention to ask for it but sadly it wasn’t very nice when we did finally get it. It had a really tangy, almost fizzy taste to it. The sauce on the meat was tasty and there was a lot of it but it seemed to be trying to disguise the fact that the meat was quite dry underneath it all. The corn was a little overcooked and not very flavoursome but the fries were good. I did like the milkshake and it tasted like it had real banana in it rather than artificial banana flavouring, so that was good. It was creamy and a nice consistency too. The service was very slow, especially when we were trying to pay and it was far from the super friendly customer service you get in a real American diner. I went to the toilets to wash my hands after the sticky/saucey ribs(we were given wipes on the table which was good) but the soap dispenser had fallen off the wall at some point and didn’t have anything in it. Overall, an average meal with below average service but in a nice diner setting. I probably wouldn’t go again but if I did I’d perhaps try one of the burgers and get onion rings as they looked huge and crispy!

What an adorable little modern diner this place is! I was instantly attracted to the clean, hip and southern American style of this place. We ordered a burger and a Reuben and they were huge, as expected. Both were good, the burger was a little bland but my husband said that the Reuben was the ‘best ever!’. I would visit this place again, possibly for the ribs next time, which seemed very popular with the crowd. Service was also nice and quick, and the martinis were fantastic. Not spectacular, but stylish and decent.
