Located in the East side of the New Forest, the Queen‘s head is a classic english pub with real good main course meals, lasagne, beef burgers, yorkshire puddings and much more. The New Forest is home to see wild horses and goats that roam freely in the forest and you will see them around the neighbourhood of Burley too, you can find a horse and cart ride at the carparking entrance for an adventure tour thats popular for families at peak season more or less spring and summer time A nice day out Advise driving slowly and carely through the forest as horses and goats have priority here, be prepared to stop especially around hidden corners.

Another lucky find on our impromptu visit to the New Forest at the weekend! This is an Old English Inn and as such, the food menu offers a slightly more gastro vibe to the usual pub fayre. The décor is very nicely done out and lots of nooks & niches to hide yourself away in, with some gorgeous period features. We decided to stay for an early dinner purely because they had Aspall cider on draft! After a lengthy look at the menu and specials board, we opted for the baby rack of ribs with chips and we were not disappointed at all. Nice portions of tender, well-cooked ribs in an aromatic sticky sauce — the only thing we could find fault with was that a bowl of water would have been very handy for dealing with sticky mitts after enjoying our meal, rather than grappling with toilet doors to wash our hands fully. The only negative of the Queens Head was that many of the tables had been left uncleared and there was lots of food lying on the floor, getting trodden in as people walked around trying to find a clear table(no matter how much you tried to avoid it, it was impossible!). Otherwise a really lucky find and we would definitely return again if passing through the area(or recommend to friends).

I’m going to write a post about the Queens Head and how we loved the menu. I’ve created a slide show about our visit to the New Forest. :) Have a look here —

Good pub tucked in Burley. While you’ll likely get disappointed about Burley itself as being full of souvernir shops, the Queens Head will make your effort coming here worth it and will offer a good spot for a pint or afternoon tea.

We cycled here from Lymington on the windiest day of the year. We went under howling elec lines with 100mph winds overhead and were very very glad of a lovely pint of the good stuff when we got here. Food was pretty good pub grub — I ordered a burger, but they had run out of baps, so asked for it inside a loaf instead. Good solid food. Inside is on different levels with a lot of history — staff were pleasant and accommodating. Definitely recommend

Very old pub in the centre of Burley. Atmospheric, friendly with great real ales and excellent food.
