EXCELLENTPUBINROSS-ON-WYE While strolling around the delightful town of Ross-on-Wye on a Saturday it was time for a bite. This place right on the market square looked promising, so we breezed in. It’s a long and narrow(ish) pub ( ) that extends back quite a way: in other words, a drinking establishment that does not lack depth. I can imagine that it does a roaring trade in the evenings. I had a delicious pint of Wye Valley bitter and also ordered a cheese & tomato sandwich. ( ) This turned out to be very thickly endowed with a remarkably generous and toothsome portion of Cheddar cheese(see photo). Upon leaving, we asked the guy who had served us about the cheese, but he professed his ignorance in the matter and hastened off to enlist the support of his colleague in the kitchen(who also didn’t know). However, he said: «I don’t know the exact type, but we have it delivered on Thursday and I can order some for you if you want.» Little things like that impress me. Such a shame that we were not going to be there on the following Thursday(or for that manner on the same evening).
