A recent visit to this active coffee shop was a very pleasant one. My colleague who lives in the town often calls on there and kinows the manager well. The atmosphere is friendly and alive. Some clients are coming and going while others linger longer over a snack. Some make it a venue for a staff or interview session. We spent some time there having much to discuss and thus had repeat orders. The customer interest and care are excellent and you would enjoy calling for a coffee or whatever. Global Nomad

I love this café for many reasons, the brilliant quality of the coffee, the fact that they can actually make the drinks they have on the menu(rather than making an amorphous cappucinolattemilkybitterdishwateresso like so many other shops that bought the fancy Italian coffee machine but forgot the manual or the Italian dictionary), the friendly service and the great range of food that is fresh and tasty pretty much every time. Also the prices are better than the big chains which dominate in Tunbridge Wells. There is usually a good range of people about and even though Camden Road is not the prettiest, I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I don’t think Monmouth coffee is Australian as far as i know it is from a London based company who serve it in Borough market, but could be wrong. The only complaint I could offer would be that one time, I had an open sandwich which was supposed to be with fairly rare roast beef, and the cut of beef was fatty and not great. But hey, every other time whatever i ordered was great

Whilst not quite there yet, Camden Road is making a spirited attempt to re-brand itself as TW’s boho street. Good luck to it. Anywayzzzz, The Black Dog Café is a fresh opening selling(Aussie?) Monmouth coffee and running a good value range of eat in/take away baguettes, ciabattas, wraps & cakes. They’re gunning for the midweek office brigade too — call ahead & they’ll pre prepare your grub. Nice shop fit. Clean & uncluttered with tables outside. They have a large window that you can sit at. Ideal for people watching… When I was there it was fairly full of proto-boho’s looking perfectly happy with their choice. When I hear ‘Black Dog’, I think of Churchills euphamism for depression or of Led Zeppelin IV. I think I was alone in this…
