Kettle Of Fish

I only have one thing to say about this place. I NEVER had such oily food in my life. And I hope I never have it again.
Staff is just terrible.

Your spoilt for choice down Wish Street for places to eat. There have been mixed reviews but for ourselves we can only speak well of The Kettle. Have used it several times on our visits to Rye and have never been disappointed yet. The food is good with portions being quite big. The fish is excellent.
I have to agree with Becs2 in relation to customer service and answering cell phones whilst serving How rude. Perhaps a line or two to the management!

very very poor quality, high prices and unhelpful staff

Leaving Hastings to get fish and chips in Rye turned out to be a mistake 90p for a pork sausage, which shouldn’t have cost 10p! Overpriced and poor quality. Definitely don’t recommend!

Okay I wrote a review and now it seems to have disappeared. I do hope I am not repeating myself.
Had misfortune to eat or try to eat at this Fish Bar last week.
1 — butter is margarine
2 — vinegar watered down
3 — Batter greasy and heavy
4– Cod strange grey colour and smelt very fishy…
5 — Chips not good lots of black spots and not cooked enough.
6 — an extremely unwelcoming experience
7 — Manager needs help as he cannot keep his anger under control — best to avoid at all costs — whatever you do — do not complain or in fact make a compliment as the Manager is obviously struggling with life in general and you might be the next victim of one of his tyrannical outburst for no reason…
8 — go to Greatstone up the road and getter better all round service and great chips…
or take the chance of bumping into Macca and go shopping in Jempsons supermarket at Peasmarsh…
