I have to almost totally disagree with the above review, other than the fact the pub is genuine and the food affordable. My friends and I arrived fairly late in the evening and they provided us with the last available table, despite being extremely busy. The staff were most welcoming and our waitress had a fab sense of humour. The food was so good we had all three courses and tempted to have more! I have Coeliacs Disease, but unlike some food places, they were very happy to accomodate my needs and alter the dishes if necessary. For once I was not made to feel a nuisance. We would all go back again and agreed that finding the Fortescue Inn was the perfect end to our holiday.

This is perhaps the least fashionable pub in Salcombe(not necessarily a bad thing) but maybe the most genuine. The food is still affordable(although not great), and the locals drink in here so it can’t be too bad. Bright and airy it ain’t(this is Devon!!)
