Pretty standard chain restaurant just by Salford Quays tram stop. Ordered the chicken and chorizo tacos. Tasty filling, although the tacos were slightly burnt on the edge and you only got 3. For the price(11 odd quid) it was a little overpriced. My friend had the sweet potato fries which were great. We each had a cocktail. Although pretty heavy on the ice they were only 5 quid ish each so pretty good(I guess I’m used to London prices!) Service was polite although a little slow. We didn’t get our cocktails served until after the main. It would be unfair to give this place a 2 stars because it was not a bad experience at all. It’s a solid choice but nothing you’re going to remember!

Went here for breakfast, since had tried the restaurant next door the day before. I have no experience of their Mexican cuisine although the place was quasi-decorated in a Mexican restaurant way. The big English breakfast was OK, nothing out of the ordinary and cost just under 6 pounds each, although outside there was a sign advertising breakfasts for under 4 pounds. Seems that they forgot to put that one on the menu inside. The waitress was very friendly but although not many there, the food took some time to come. I guess the cook was on a cigarette or tequila break when we arrived.

Ok, so this place has been a quick go to for me and my family for years, before a cinema trip to or just when we wanted something casual and quick. The food is good, not fantastic and cetainly not gourmet, but sometimes you just want decent food at a fair price, which we always got with their lunch menu and early evening menu, which was around £9.99 for two courses. Now this has completely gone(the lunch menu stays but has become more expensive) and the main menu has been re-vamped. While that’s nice and some of the dishes looked and sounded nice, the prices have gone up far too much. It’s now between £14 to £16 per main meal of our usual choices, while before it was £10-£11. Another good example is their nachos for one where once £3.99 and are now £4.95, the garlic flatbread was £2.99 is now £4.99. For me that is FAR too much for a place like this, when I can go to somewhere in the city and order a full, freshly made, home cooked, locally sourced meal for myself and my partner and not spend more than £23. At another big Mexican resturant I can order a full, filling, quality food meal for two with drinks for £21.00. My meal at Chiquitos yesterday, for two people, of a rib sizzler, a burger, two regular soft drinks and nothing else was £33.00!!! My goodness, what a complete rip off that felt like. They were giving off 20% vouchers off future meals to all customers, but even that won’t bring it back down to the price we were used to. The food hasn’t changed, so why have the prices? I’m afraid to say that I don’t think I’ll be back after being a customer for years, their greedy prices have lost them a whole family’s custom. I would suggest you look for your Mexican food elsewhere, this place has become an overpriced rip off.

My team at work had done really well before I started, so as a reward they had given my team £15 a head and an hour off to go and eat lunch. Being a newbie they were obviously obliged to take me along too. Our choices were limited to Pizza Hut, Harry Ramsden’s and Chiquito. We went for the most exotic of the three, Chiquito, but soon wished we had stuck with pizza or fish. I ordered vegetable fajitas which didn’t arrive until the rest of the team had almost finished their meaty mains. My meal was bland, and tasted like something I could easily cooked up in 5 minutes at home. I’ve never been to Mexico, but I’m pretty sure that any given Mexican would be unwilling to associate himself with the food served in Chiquito. The non-alcoholic cocktails(we weren’t allowed a boozy lunch) were nothing special and quite over-priced for what they were. The whole team agreed that we wouldn’t be eating in Chiquito again. At least we weren’t the ones paying. With our general consensus and the negative reviews on here, I’m surprised that this restaurant is still in business — maybe they make their money selling Corona to the visiting football fans who often stay in the Etap opposite?

Alas my friends, Mexican food, this is not. having been raised in southern CA, I’d like to think I know Mexican food– the nachos were flavorless, the burrito, bland… and what is it about taco seasoning in England that makes it taste like curry? Unfortunately Chiquitos did not quell my extreme Mexican food craving– and drove me to making my own concoctions at home.

When my friends said we were going to have lunch @ a Mexican place while shopping AGAIN at the Trafford Centre. As an American, I picture Mexican food in two ways… either Tex Mex or traditional Mexican. There are many places in the Boston area that have fab Mexican food! The whole ordering process at Chiquitos was easy and the food on the menu looked pretty traditional, But the food was not what I was expecting at all! Some of the flavors were there but it didn’t quite make the grade. And the guacamole was more like an avacado purey… I like my guac with chopped onions and tomoatoes and big chucks of avacado! Will I go back to Chiquitos on any of my next 20 visits to the Trafford Centre? Maybe… but I think Nandos stole this American’s heart!

I’m sorry to say this to my fellow Mancunian’s! But here’s the deal. When I lived abroad, and being Mexican-American, I know what real Mexican food is suppose to taste like. Yet, I give mad props for businesses like these to have more or less of the same finer ingredients! While visiting Manchester, I was feeling homesick and missing the Hot and Spicy enchiladas, tacos, and arroz! Mexican rice, or Spanish rice. Anywho… a friend of mine from Birmingham took me here, ordered some chimichangas and was soo gorging on the stuff too. I had a wrap, a burrito we call it with black beans and rice on the side. But it wasn’t the same. I still ate my meal though. It was close to home as I could possibly get. Oh, and mad props for having Corona there with lime, but try the Dos XX’s lager, it’s better! Oh, and I also applaud the fact that there was some Cholula hot sauce. That is the best hot sauce! Way better than Tabasco. In Ireland, they only had Tobasco, which is not an acquired taste. It doesn’t contain Chile in it., it has way too much vinegar in it. Other than that, every person’s experience is different, this was only mine though. Oh, and did’ya know that Chiquito’s means little one in Spanish!

I’m quite a fan of this restaurant in Salford Quays. It’s situated just off the main road, and is surrounded by another couple of well known restaurants, including a Frankie and Benny’s. There is a car park for use by all the restaurants but I’ve never experienced it to be full, even when all of the restaurants are busy. The tram stop to Eccles is literally right outside so public transport is always an option! The service has been quite good here in my past experiences; and the staff have always been pleasant. The food is tasty and even on a busy night we didn’t have much of a wait. We felt sufficiently filled up by the end of our meal and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who fancied something a bit different.

This is a very quiet restaurant but the service is very slow. The food was nice but the portion size wasn’t very generous. The staff are friendly enough but slow to take your order & don’t check if you need refills or if food is ok which lets the service down a bit. Nice food but due to the amount we felt it was a bit overpriced.
