The Two Brewers has had its ups and downs over the years, but it is potentially a great pub in a fantastic location at the bottom of Gold Hill and with views over the beautiful Blackmore Vale. All it needs is a top-notch Landlord/lady… …which it now has in the form of Sally and Andy. They have a background in the hospitality sector, and it shows. Their primary objective is a warm welcome, which they certainly deliver. They have knocked the interior of the pub into shape, and it now offers a cosy atmosphere for quaffing the excellent real ales(Landlord, Doom Bar, Otter, etc.), local ciders and funny foreign lagers. The kitchen leapt into action in June 2014 and the food is bloody fantastic, I had a squeaky Haloumi dish which nearly reduced me to tears of joy, while the Mrs had a seared tuna steak which rendered her momentarily speechless. The garden is lovely now, too. This pub is all that you could ask of a local pub. Shaftesbury is lucky to have it.

This pub accommodated 23 of us for a late Sunday lunch after we contacted them in advance. They normally stopped serving food at 3 but the chef arranged to stay on to serve us at 3. Lunch was £9.50 which was a little expensive. Nice gravy served separately but they had run out of apple sauce!(There is a supermarket not far away) The vegetables were a bit sparse too. It had nice views and a good room at the back which seated us all very well. The person in charge did get a bit het up when it came to serving us all.
