I called at Hey Potato while at Meadowhall in Sheffield, having been looking for a snack in the Meadowhall dining Quarter, having been turned away by multiple restaurants with long waiting times. Hey Potato is a very small chain of restaurants, which is refreshing to see, in a Food Court, which is often filled with your big names, and although the likes of Pizza Hut, Mcdonald’s and KFC are there, Meadowhall still has a few small chains like Hey Potato. I was attracted to this restaurant by a sign which stated«All our potatoes are gluten free» and the staff had good knowledge about this, I opted for a Jacket potato with tuna, sweetcorn and cheese. The potato was quite expensive costing around £5(just under that!), which is about 2.5x what I’m used to paying at my local«Spud Van» in Middleton. The potato was quite nice, and the fillings were good quality, however I was disappointing that the fillings were very cold, which lowered the quality of a meal, as it was more cold than hot, which was a shame, having been looking for a hot meal. Communication with the staff was hard, mainly due to how loud it was in the Dining Quarter, which along with it being near impossible to find a seat(I had to share a table with a few other people), that also marks Hey Potato down. Overall, the potatoes were indeed good quality and so were the toppings, but for the price, you could have nearly paid for a much bigger, meal, just for a little bit more, so the prices are no where near competitive, which is a shame, so along with factors with the location, I feel I can only give Hey Potato 2 stars, although with more favorable pricing, it could have easily been a 3!
