Langsett is a pleasant reservoir to walk around. The walk is about 5 miles and there’s a pub and a café to either to begin or finish off at when walkin around the reservoir. Part of the walk encompasses Langsett woods which are a delight to walk through. The walk also crosses the valley of the Little Don where the Little Don river splits into several little rivers running through the land before forming back into one big river feeding into the reservoir. The walk around Langsett also takes you up onto high moorland where you can get a great view of the reservoir and Langsett woods as well as the surrounding area and Stocksbridge. No water sports are allowed on Langsett but it’s certainly a joy to walk around. It’s a very popular destination, especially at weekends when all car parks tend to be packed no matter what the weather.
