This is a very warm and welcoming pub. After a long uphill walk I just randomly chose this pub to have a drink and it was a nice surprise to walk into a cool comfortable place. I ordered a Guinness and black current and rested a bit while I watched cricket and a Wimbledon match on dueling televisions. The bartender was even kind enough to order a taxi for me when I was ready to leave. Great customer service is always a huge plus in my book. Highly recommended!

Great real pub in the heart of studentville. Has everything you’d want for a good pub, good grub, good beer, good interior, locals are nice and friendly, it’s warm and welcoming, has live sport, decent screens for the footy, a beer garden, it’s big and there’s never any trouble.

This pub is my local. It is a decent, basic(but not too basic!) traditional pub. The beer garden has been renovated and has outside heaters for smokers. Inside the layout is welcoming and ample for quiet and bueier periods. Sport is shown on tvs and also outside in the summer. Prices are reasonable and they sell cheap ready made sandwhiches for if you are peckish.

The Banner Cross is a traditional pub that is great for watching sport. There are two rooms downstairs, a lounge and a traditional taproom with the bar in the middle. The lounge has two plasma screens for watching the footie but there is also another room upstairs which has two big screens and another small bar. This room can get very busy for the big matches, but this helps to create a great atmosphere. There is a nice beer garden to the rear of the pub, also with a plasma screen, which is great for watching sport in the summer and there is a heated smoking area The range of drinks are pretty standard, prices are reasonable and there is a friendly atmosphere. It’s a must for sport fans, but also a decent pub to go to just for a drink and a chat.
