There’s nowhere better for the beer or the craic. The Grapes is a fantastic pub, full of fantastic people. If you’re in the mood for live music sessions, to make some new friends or even just a decent pour of guinness, this is the place to go.

A friend of mine just brought me to the Grapes this past week and I fell in love with the place. I really liked the Pub feel… the colors the décor, the staff, the clientele, and the coal burning stoves(actually put to use) all combined makes for a relaxing place. The wait staff is outstanding here and very friendly! The selection of beers is perhaps a bit limited when compared to other places, but I had no trouble finding one which I liked. The food is also outstanding… perhaps the best chips I’ve ever had!(I’m told they are cooked twice…) I’ve been here for Lunch & Dinner and enjoyed each time and clearly this will be a must come to place each time I visit Sheffield.

The Grapes is a hotspot for new bands of Sheffield, thanks to its very intimate upstairs setting. Although small, this venue has plenty of character and a fantastic, friendly atmosphere. Drinks are fairly priced, bar staff are great and location is pretty good too. It is on Trippet Lane, easily missed by a passer-by as it is crammed into a small corner. However, once you’ve visited once, you’ll be in there every other week.

Again, another one my favourite venues for seeing small, unsigned bands. The room upstairs is tiny and often packed to the rafters. Bar prices are always reasonable and staff always friendly. Most bands to come out of Sheffield have played here at some time or another.

great venue for unsigned bands, does a mean pint of guiness, has a pool table, and a great jukebox.

Fantastic pub, jukebox full of albums that’s been on it for years but at least they’re very good albums! Cheap pool! Very friendly and lovely bar staff. Range of ales could be better but you can always get a decent pint. Beer prices are average. Great for small gigs, shame the gigging room isn’t bigger but sometimes it’s not a bad thing — gigs often seem more personal — and it’s also a good starting point for new bands. The Grapes should be cherished in Sheffield as many similar pubs have gone now and yuppy bars or flats have taken their place — it could only be a matter of time before the real estate developers put a price on it, that’s if they haven’t already.
