Great Sheffield pub, bit of a bo-ho scene. Its not the cheapest place in the world but great beer garden and huge selection of ales etc.

Place with a decent atmosphere, and it looked quite nice too. Enjoyed the distinction between the two public pars, being the shallow end and the deep end. Music was alright. Abbeydale Moonshine was the only beer option, but if you only have one, this is a pretty decent one! Used to be owned by Nick Banks of Pulp.

Very crowded pub on the weekends, far too small and busy. Drinks very expensive when you finally get to the bar and get served.

A little bit of bohemia in Sheffield. Can be a random pub you don’t know what you’ll see there when you walk in with regular DJ and live nights from kitsch to retro to acoustic to rock. When Tramlines is on its always worth a look in. They normally have Abbeydale real ale on generally Moonshine. It can be seen as a typical rock /alternative pub so not the plushest location but it feels right

Great Pub. One off the best out there. They must do a fantastic trade. Late openings on the weekends to way past 2AM most nights and they are still rammed full. The only pub I can think of where you can buy snuff, tobacco, and moonshine. Great alternative to loud dancey late bars. Usualy famous faces in there as well; local musicians who never made the big time.

What a great traditional pub, where you can dance, sit and chat or sit in the sun(when it shines), you’ll get lost your first time in. I found The Washy 3 months ago and since then I have had some of the best nights out since I arrived in Sheffield. I have seen some really cool live music, and some great DJ’s I have made some new interesting friends from all walks of life. The Beer Garden is the place to meet and be seen. Talk about star spotting!!!

Loud, full of tramps, stinks, many of the people in there appear to but under the influence of drugs other than alcohol. Worst pub I’ve been in in Sheffield and that’s saying something.

A proper pub with a varied clientelle. Good atmosphere and always seems very relaxed. A good range of drinks but no real food options. A wide variety of music is played and there is often a disco type set up going on at the weekends. Now open until late(1pm?) every day of the week.

A great local pub, with perhaps the most eclectic and friendly mix of any pub in Sheffield: here you’ll find locals mixing with students, young and old, the weird and wonderful, and most are very happy to chat to newcomers. There’s also the newly refurbished purple room, which has DJs most nights, and fairly frequent small gigs. The Washington is famous for its music(it used to be owned by Pulp drummer Nick Banks, and has been frequented by all of Sheffield’s famous musicians at one point or another), and the playlist here is eclectic and exciting, with some top DJs doing regular nights. There’s a decent, if not stellar, range of drinks. Local real ale in the form of the Abbeydale brewery’s Moonshine, and the odd peculiarity(absinthe, anyone?) Outside is a large beer garden, part covered, where you’ll find plenty of smokers huddled around tables even on the coldest winter nights. Most of all though, there’s a really friendly atmosphere, it’s an old-school pub without the old-school exclusiveness. I stumbled in here almost by accident a few years ago, and keep finding myself drawn back by the wonderful people and welcoming bar-staff.

Great local feeling pub. an eclectic mix of people in there too. ive not attended the quizz nights, but i hear that they are really good. they also appear to sell snuff? another great point is the music and jukebox in there.

The Washington is a music pub with a great atmosphere. There is an interesting mix of customers attracted to the wide range of music that is played, either live or by a DJ or on the jukebox. There is a decent range of beers at average prices and a nice beer garden. Don’t be put off by the décor, if you are into your music it is well worth a vist.

Again, another of my faves. Perfect if you like your pubs old fashioned and a bit rough round the edges. Always guaranteed an eclectic mix of music and clientele. A great place with loads of atmosphere. I really can’t recommend it more!

The Wash(as it’s generally referred as) is another pub in Sheffield that has to be cherished alongside the Grapes. It’s one of the few independent pubs that’s left in the city centre and that has a late license, the bar staff and owners are very friendly, there is always live music or DJ’s playing of an evening. The music varies but is generally alternative, rock’n’roll, ska, reggae, or leftfield. It has a fantastic beer garden. The atmosphere is always brilliant and most people that go are very friendly. Good range of beer and average prices. Well worth a visit any time of the day or any evening.
