Rating des Ortes: 3 Crystal Palace, London, United Kingdom
I really wanted this place to be good. I mean, on paper it sounds great. Big portions of delicious curry goodness, BYOB, small intimate setting. Sounds good right? Unfortunately the reality didn’t live up to my expectations. For a start, the menu is limited. There are about 8 types of curry,(none of which you’ve ever heard of) served with what seemed like a thimble of rice, and a naan, or for a few quid extra you can make it a full meal by adding lentils and another side dish to it. The curry was tasty enough but I was left with loads of sauce and no rice to tip into it, forcing me to order another portion of rice. When the extra rice turned up, the portion was enormous. The portions are truly baffling. I also ordered an extra starter because I was disappointed with my rice situation, and feeling adventurous I went for something purely at random. Mistake. Because the description just listed some of the ingredients and no real details I expected something cooked, it was raw. It had a taste I was unfamiliar with. I left most of it. It’s a small restaurant, with not much effort put into décor. The atmosphere reminded me of the kitchen of my old student halls, take from that what you will… But hey, it was BYOB, and the curry itself was quite nice, so that’s worth 3 stars right?
