Able to seat a party of 10 with no notice at 1:30pm. The serving staff was very nice and accommodating, but a little slow — as was the wait for the food. However, it was all delicious and I think very reasonable for the prix fix lunch menu. Try the triple cooked chips as a side dish, they’re delicious.

One of the most delicious meals I’ve had in a long time. The staff are great, the ambiance is perfect for a casual or fancy date-night, and the chicken was the best I have had in recent memory. This dish presentation was beautiful but it tasted even better than it looked. Interesting flavor combinations without feeling like they were trying too hard. This chef definitely knows what he is doing.

I love it when you find an unassuming little restaurant that serves awesome food at great prices. The Green is a snug, bistro kind of a place with a menu du jour as well as the a la carte. All the dishes sounded delicious and the three of us were all delighted with our choices. The celeriac velouté is stunning and the pot roast chicken and John Dory drew appreciative ‘mmmmm’s’ mouthful after mouthful. At £20 for 2 courses with a very acceptable glass of house wine — this is incredible value given the quality of food. Service is efficient and good-humoured and I’m already planning my next visit. What to have though? So hard to choose…

We came here one sunny thursday under recommendation. Upon arrival the place was empty so we sat in the very pretty and fragarant rear garden to enjoy the last of the sun with a glass of wine. The waiter brought us complimentry nuts and olives(there is a charge on the menu. But we were not charged !) We placed our order and were advised that when ready they would fetch us to our table inside. This set the tone for evening with regards to the service which was beyond exceptional. The food on the other hand to it a step further. I had the salt cod and my parted had the crab soup. Both were delightful with the crab being my prefferd option. Then I had the confit duck with olive oil mash and I think that this is starting to be one of those best meals ive ever had moments ! It really was amazing. The graby that it was served with had this sweetness that complimented the perfectly cooked meat. I really didn’t want this course to ever end. She had the sea bream it looked really good. But I really didnt care at the time as the duck had my undivided attention ! This place is a must visit for anyone visiting Sherbourne. 5 stars doesn’t really do it justice I need to give this six stars !

The gazpacho was simply amazing! However potted shrimp was not exciting and my husband didn’t love the veal/tuna burger. Nice outdoor dining area for a lovely lunch on a sunny day.

I couldn’t agree more with the other review, I love The Green and if there was such a thing I would have loyalty card and insist that anyone who visits Sherborne should go for a meal to experience what I believe to be the best restaurant around. I have been to The Green countless times and the staff are great, they remember you and they always remember who is having what at a table without having to ask(bemuses me every time). I am going to celebrate a friends birthday in March and I can’t wait, we’re have the private dining room upstairs and all I know is we are having pomegranate fizz on arrival — champagne with pomegranate liqueur and pomegranate seeds and a set menu of her favorite dishes — bliss.

This place is great. My husband and I had a 3 course dinner for just over 20 pounds each the other night and the food couldn’t have been better. The scallop starter was to-die-for. Grilled goat cheese and spiced plum is another one we’ll order again. I got a crab and shrimp risotto that I’m still thinking about. Chocolate mousse was delicious. Banana pancakes with caramel were unbelievable. The menu changes periodically, and recently, the prices for week night dinner have gone down a few pounds to entice mid-week diners– and it worked for us. I can’t wait to go back. I’m not sure my 10 year old would appreciate the menu, but for a quiet, upscale dinner in Sherborne, this is the place to be. Service was attentive. My gin and tonic never got too low(this is a giant plus). It isn’t a cheap night out when you add drinks or wine to the bill, and its not a place to run in for a quick bite. Dinner, from start to finish, took over two hours.
