Metro Bar

Honoured to give Metro bar its first review. This is pretty much the only semi happening pub in Sidcup and me and all my drama school friends go. The music is banging and the drinks are cheap.

RUBBISH — full of wrong-​uns.
Used it once as a meeting ppooint for a friend who was meeting me at Sidcup Station, and was verbally abused and threatened by a drunk, and when I complained to the bar staff, they did nothing.
Not surprised about it hitting the headlines recently for the wrong reasons — place should be closed down.

This place is fantastic if you are looking to rub shoulders with underage drinkers, agressive wannabe pikeys, and drama students. Unless you are interested in starting random fights or shreiking like a little drama queen I’d steer well clear. That said, there aren’t any other decent pubs in Sidcup. Infact just steer clear of Sidcup full stop.

This is a strange pub which doesn’t really know what its trying to be. It is right next to Sidcup Station so gets a lot of commuter trade. It also appeals to the young (and under age) crowd in the evenings by having various themed events and dJ’s. There is nothing special about the beers and the staff are friendly and polite. It is trying to appeal to the local Drama school by offering freshers week etc. there are better places to drink in Sidcup

Have been going here for a couple of years now, it’s always a good laugh and generally gets the local student population especially for the karaōke nights tuesday, wednesday and every other saturday.
It’s the only place open in Sidcup after 11 at the moment, it does tend to get busier around 10:30. Drinks aren’t particularly cheap, £3 a pint of Kronenbourg, £6.80 for Jacques. They have a DJ on every other Sat, who tends to play a mix of 80s/​90s classics/​cheese and occasionally finds a love for some crappy r&b pop stuff.
The bar staff are friendly, the crowd is mostly 18 – 25 generally decent and the bouncers are a laugh! Do bring ID though as they run clubscan, so no ID no entry they will scan you at the door if there are bouncers or at the bar if not. Very much disagree that it attracts underage people as the below poster says, student’s just look young these days, but they have a very strict ID policy here and search on the door ever since the trouble here.

Being as this is the latest open bar in Sicup, we expected it to be a local favourite. Whether that’s a good or bad thing depends on your view of Sidcup, but we actually found enjoyable — a bit rough round the edges perhaps but it has a smoking area and is completely non-​poncey!
