This pub and hotel doesn’t blow me away to be honest. This is usually a meet up point before heading off elsewhere for dinner. The service in here can be a tad slow, and there has often been occasions when we have arrived and there have been no staff at the bar. You have to pay to park in their car park, which is a bit cheeky but hey ho! An average pub.

We went here today for a spot of lunch. If you’re in a car, it’s £3 to park, and you can get this refunded off your bill. It has a pleasant interior, and the staff were friendly and helpful. With quite an extensive menu, there was plenty of choice. Our soup arrived and was rather tepid, so the staff quickly took it away and brought it back, nice and hot, just a few minutes later. It was very tasty when we arrived at a palatable temperature. I also had some garlic bread with cheese, and that wasn’t hot either, so perhaps they were having an off day! That said, if I was in the area, I would give it another go, simply because the service was great, and they made no fuss about our requests to heat up our food again. Perhaps if we were having a meal in the restaurant it would have been better, and the menu is an appealing one.

This seems to be an old remodeled English land house, they only have approx. 25 rooms, but nice big rooms and bathrooms, working heater(which was most important for me since it was only 38 °F outside), the rooms are quiet, the towels get heated on the towel holder, On the down side, they forgot to give me my wake up call in the morning. So I had to rely on my inner clock to wake p which worked just perfectly that day. So make sure to double check that they will call you in the morning, otherwise you might be late to your appointments.

The Greswolde is situated on the High Street in Knowle, with parking just off the side road in front of the hotel. We have eaten here a few times, both in the bar and the brasserie. Although, as has been pointed out, the drinks are expensive, the food is reasonably priced. The menu has a wide range of options from the light and reasonably healthy(various salads and pasta) to some filling and rib-sticking winter options(beef and ale pie). The side orders of vegetables are more interesting than the norm. There is also a popular Sunday lunch. The bar is wi-fi enabled, so you could always have a leisurely lunch and catch up with the world.
