Old Town Malaysian and Sushi

Old Town is open for a while now and I must say that they are still in a special place in my life. Mostly all of the new establishments are losing their standards, but not The Old Town, for what I’m very happy. :-)
They do deliver full on flavors every time (duck rolls being one of my favorites) and always treat you like most dear friend.
I’ll deffinately be going to them for a treat again and again.

Two words describe this Southampton sushi dive — Absolutely Marvelous.
I reluctantly agreed to eat here with my wife — I was more in the mood for a gorge yourself buffet. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least; we definitely will be back when we’re in the area. Old Town offers two distinct styles of food here, Malaysian hot dishes and Japanese Style Sushi Rolls. Both are done well, with the edge given to the Sushi. This place is more of a take out place, but there are a few seats upstairs and 5 or 6 seats in the main restaurant. Definitely stop in if you are in the West Quay Shopping Mall, and you fancy something different from the standard mall food. This place is a must if you are even thinking about Yo Sushi.
Sushi: 4 Stars — Fresh, well presented and generous portions. Out of 4 different types of sushi, the Dragon roll was the family favorite, almost too pretty to eat.
Rice and Noodle Dishes (Goreng): 3.5 Stars — Authentic savory Malaysian style.
Soup (Roasted Pork over egg noodles): 3 Stars — Good, but I had already been won over by the Sushi.
Honey Wings: 3 Stars — :)
Speed of service: 5 stars –Turbo
You get tremendous value from this restaurant, especially if you aren’t looking for a fancy Asian sit down.

My first sushi experience! Thanks to a friend who brought over a selection box for us to share.
There were about 16 items in all, including maki, nigri and dragon roll. Accompaniments were included; there was a good dollop of wasabi on the side, a large sachet of Kikkoman soy sauce and a generous supply of pickled ginger.
I was a little apprehensive at first but my friend highly recommends this sushi and for this reason she wanted me to have ‘the good stuff’ on my first try.
I was not disappointed. The fish tasted unbelievably fresh and the texture was divinely silky — the quality of this fish is outstanding. And despite looking like a small amount of food, it was surprisingly filling, but not in a «so full I am going to burst» kind of way, more of a satisfyingly-​fed way.
Hours after the sushi I could still ‘feel’ that freshness in my belly. It was such a memorable taste and sensation that I was already craving for more!
Old Town serves Japanese and Malaysian food so I am looking forward to trying out the Malaysian curries in the near future. They also offer a delivery service and there is limited seating on the premises.

This is not only THE best Japanese/​Chinese in Soton but perhaps up there with the best I’ve ever had.
Sushi — I got the Tuna nigri and maki — very fresh, good size and low in cost
Lunch meal boxes are huge! Tried to eat a chicken satay one for lunch, couldn’t get close, saved it for dinner, couldn’t even finish it for dinner! But absolutely delicious.
Staff are incredibly friendly and polite and even remember my name despite only having been in to the shop once and had one delivery!
Delivery is fast

A takeaway menu came through my door last week as thousands do, but ‘Old Town’s’ menu stood out as a little different because of the Japanese and Malaysian dishes they offered.
I ordered something to test them out and was blown away by how good the food wasguiltily I have to admit I have ordered from them twice since my first time and the food was wonderful.
So refreshing to have great food that’s a little different and the service was great too, the lady on the phone said 40 minutes, but we try to be quicker, do you mind if the food arrives early? I didn’t and it actually arrived in 25 minutes.
Can’t recommend this takeaway enough and that’s something I never thought I’d hear myself say.

This place seems to be new, I am sure it was a juice bar a few weeks ago.
Anyway, I was walking past at the weekend and the people inside came out to speak to me, offer me a menu and tell me about themselves. They seemed very genuine and friendly, so I thought I would try out their food.
I have had a selection of Sushi delivered for my dinner tonight and I thought it was very good. The fish used in the dishes that contained fish was very fresh and good quality. The food arrived on time, was nicely packaged and well presented. Not to mention delicious! The portion sizes are generous and I think they are reasonably priced.
As well as sushi, there is a good selection of Melaysian dishes on the menu which I am looking forward to trying!
I would definitely order from them again and recommend them to others. I just hope they stay open, as with no sweet & sour chicken balls (yuk!) or chips on the menu people may be reluctant to try them.
