A nice train station with four platform all under cover with covered walk way between them Two main entrances on either side, both have bus stops outside but the taxi rank is on the south exit along with the main bus stop. Both have ticket booths and automatic ticket machines to collect pre-purchased tickets and have excellent information on the next trains to different towns and cities The PA system is one that you can understand and has many trains to London during the weekdays Coffee shops on platforms 1 and 4 plus a small whs and a sandwich shop to pick up something to eat and a paper to read for the journey ahead Clean and tidy station with helpful staff

Southampton Central railway station is a main line station serving the city of Southampton in Hampshire, southern England. It is on the Wessex Main Line, the South Western Main Line and the West Coastway Line. Despite its name, Southampton Central is in fact situated some distance from the centre of the city(a central area served by Southampton Terminus station until 1967), though it is now the closest station to the centre. The station is managed by South West Trains who operate the majority of services, including frequent trains to London Waterloo, Bournemouth & Portsmouth. Other operators are CrossCountry(providing services to Oxford, Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly and Newcastle Central), First Great Western(to Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central) and Southern, which links Southampton to London Victoria, East Croydon, Gatwick Airport and Brighton.
