Chiquita Restaurant

It has been a few years since I was last at this restaurant, but after visiting this restaurant many times, I feel it needs a review, and an excellent one at that. First of all, the atmosphere here is fantastic, very warm and comforting. The service you receive is always with a smile and so attentive. Ordering from the main menu, you can’t go wrong. The steaks are all cooked to perfection and all dishes are served with the most simply and perfectly cooked vegetables.
It is a family run business, and this is what makes it a cosy & welcoming place to have that special dinner.

This is a great place to go for great food and excellent service. The management are genuine restauranteurs. If you prefer your dining experience to be style over substance then this is probably not the place for you. The interior is pink walls and curtains, big fridges and display cabinets all quite frilly and a bit twee. This place is almost the antithesis to the ‘Zizzi’ of today, which looks great but has nothing special beneath the surface. At Chiquita expect big hearty portions of genuine Spanish food. I really do recommend this place.

The set menus are wonderful, based on a few staple favorites but with fresh additions when available. My personal favourite has to be the Scampi meunier, cooked to order in a cream White wine sauce with cheese and mash potatoes. Defiantly old school classic provencal cooking which may be out of vogue but hugely satisfying none the less. Whitebait and the freshly prepared boozy deserts hark back to the days when going to a restaurant meant fresh food freshly cooked from scratch. An occasion to be savoured.
Highly recommended, Agostino and his wife are very friendly and it is always a pleasure to enjoy their hospitality.
