The Slug and Lettuce

Don’t bother. A nice place with a nice atmosphere but terrible, overpriced, small portions of rubbish!

Not a bad place to go for a few beers and a burger whilst watching a football game on a Sunday afternoon or of an evening, before going onto one of Southend’s many bars/​clubs.
There is a reasonable choice of lagers on pump available, including the Japanese Itciban (rare in these parts) and a good choice of bottled beers which are reasonably priced.
The pub itself is quite large so finding a seat either inside or in the huge beer garden (well concrete area) is never too difficult and the facilities usually seem to be clean and tidy. I must be honest I cant seem to remember if they have music playing, if they do it must be quite low volume as you can always have a chat without shouting which is a rarity.
