Ever wondered what happened to Berol pens? I know I’m probably showing my age but when I was a kid, it seemed like you could buy them in a complete rainbow of colours from pinks, reds, yellows and oranges to greens, blues, greys and purples. You could also get thin and thick black Berols for drawing, sketching and writing. Over the last two decades however, Berols seemed to disappear completely and be replaced by ink-jet pens, biros and less predictably, hand-held gadgets. If you look closely however, you’ll see this Ryman still stocks individual Berols and packs of three and ten. They’re not as cheap as they used to be but they’re still a joy to use if writing or drawing is your thing. Handily, they also sell envelopes, paper and blank CDs — which mean you have everything you need to resurrect the art of mix-tapes and send your friends mix CDs with hand-scrawled titles and sleevenotes!
