Okay so after trying many of the other Indian restaurants around(chili raj is second to New Gulshan) we have decided to just keep to this one. I was surprised it is on Unilocal as a 4 £ restaurant as it is not that expensive. Maybe slightly mor expensive than most Indians but not compared to real 4£. Food is very good and tasty — they will make it how you like it too. Service is always good and they quickly recognised you as a regular. Also plenty of space to can take large parties.

I’ve been going to the New Gushan for years because one of my friends likes it and because it’s convenient. We always park in the Iceland car park as we go later in the evening. The table layout is the best part of this restaurant; there are areas where you feel you are in your own room, so ideal for a bigger group. The rest can be summarised as ‘curry house’. No surprises good or bad. I find the food consistently good and service consistently fine. If you are looking for something a bit posher try Devdas, if you want cheaper try St Albans Tandoori but enjoy the variety available in St Albans and put New Gulshan on your list.

There are several Indian restaurants within 5 minutes of the New Gulshan but this is the one I keep going back to. The food is consistently good. Though the same dish will vary from visit to visit but it’s always good. The staff rarely smile but are efficient and helpful.

The New Gulshan Tandoori is located in Victoria Street, near the St. Alban’s City Station, north of the city(about 20 minutes walk from city centre). You can park in the Iceland car park opposite, off street parking is not avaliable. The restaurant is of a traditional style. It has a large interior, groups are easily catered for. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is of traditional style, I would recommend a starter called Alloo Chat. Drinks are what you would find in any Indian. The cost of food and drink is reasonable. I would recommend this restaurant for its private dining areas for groups, it can get very lively on a busy Friday night.
