The Mex

Enjoyed it quite a bit. Most food in the area is a bit bland. Nice atmosphere as well.

Good food, large portions, friendly wait staff.

We first went for a meal in The Mex in about ’98 before we had kids and a lovely night. The guy who owns and runs the place was really laid back and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. He sorted the drinks, brought out the food etc and there was one solitary guy in the back rattling off the orders. He sat with us and chatted which could be annoying but it wasn’t in this instance. After the meal he bought us some shots and we sat there until late chatting and drinking.
It’s not a very big place but it seats quite of few tables and we had a good banter with the whole room going on thanks to the owner. The menu isn’t massive but it had what you expect from a mexican restaurant and the food was very nice and not expensive.
With the onset of children coming along we haven’t been in for a while but we did go into the hardware shop next door last year which the same guy owns and had a chat. He said the kids were welcome to come and he’d get them whatever they wanted if they didn’t want mexican. Sadlywe had plans that night but I’d happily go back as it’s not just about the meal here but the atmosphere aswell.
