The concessions area of this theater smells like piss! It’s pretty disgusting. I went here twice during my stay in Staines(ok even though it was two days in a row, it shouldn’t smell like that!) The service at the concession stand was a bit spotty, on the first visit 4 – 5 employees were shooting the breeze right in front of the counter while there was 3 – 4 people waiting to be helped and the guy who was supposed to be working the counter was just standing there watching TV. On the second visit they had more people serving the customers and it didn’t take very long. I thought the whole VIP seating arrangement was a bit odd, even though I spent the extra £1.55 both times. The movies were good, but this isn’t a movie review site so I won’t include my commentary on that. :)

These days a cinema is pretty much the same wherever you go and the Vue in Staines is typical of big chain cinemas in that it’s a bit soulless and empty. There are 10 screens ranging from the humungous to some that feel a bit like being shut in a box. The seats are comfortable with decent leg room, but I always find that the air conditioning is turned up too high and am always cold, no matter what time of the year I go. The sound system is good, but can overflow into other screens, so you’ll be watching a romantic weepie but hearing the rumbling from next door’s action thriller. Food prices are(as ever) extortionate, but loads of people must buy things as the floor is always covered in the debris from the previous screening. Cleaning doesn’t seem to be of a very high standard. All the films shown are very mainstream — there isn’t much art house cinema shown in Staines(probably don’t think any of us will appreciate it), but I think they’re missing a trick with this. I for one would like to see something other than the latest gross-out comedy or Stallone-type actioner. When it comes down to it Staines Vue is pretty much identical to any other Vue.
