Whilst Europe is going single use plastic free, this particular Starbucks insist on putting a plastic lid on everything apparently because of health and safety! No normal non plastic mugs or cups are available, even if you are drinking on the premises. The plastic lid is therefore used for about a minute to carry your drink to a table and then discarded. The cup itself does seem to be made of paper but does get hot and is a little tricky to carry, whereas a proper mug with a handle would not be! Please Starbucks, can we have a little bit of common sense and respect for the planet here!!

We love Starbucks and we have to commend the staff that handled the HUGE morning rush for the very FIRST morning flights going out on a Sunday, esp after what happened in Paris. There were MANY people seeking places to sit, to order food, drinks at Stansted. The gate locations wouldn’t update on the Departure doors until 45 minutes prior to departure so there were a ton of people located directly in front of Starbucks as thats where most of the Departure marquees were located. The clean-up crew at Starbucks was fast and immediate. As soon as someone left, they were there to clean and prepare for the next customer. When we were in line, they had one person on a headset taking pre-orders and many staff behind the bar to make the orders. The wait was not long even though the lines were long. This location was very organized at 0530 in the morning! We were quite impressed and I hope this review reaches them. They did a fantastic job and I really enjoyed my Gingerbread Latte and Regular coffee. However, I had no idea hot drinks weren’t allowed on the plane so I had to toss it out when we reached the gate. :(I only had three sips.

I adore Starbucks… if you have seen any of my other reviews(or check-ins) you’ll probably notice a trend ;-) The Stansted Airport airport has a tough challenge with SO many customers to service for most of the day — compared to your usual Starbucks that usually only have to deal with the pre-work caffeine rush, lunch time crowd, and the afternoon«please keep me awake drones». The other«issue» they have is that they don’t really have regular customers(when I go into my local Starbucks they already know what I want before I get to the counter). This does result in the staff being rather clinical and not taking much attention to their customers. Overall, yes, go to Starbucks… though don’t expect the usual Starbucks amazing customer service.

Noting can beat the quality of Starbucks but sometimes everyone can beat it in service, if you have moody person serving you. This was a good example for me. .
