I was really impressed by our recent visit to the Arden Arms — a Robbies pub that looks like it’s been there for years and has probably, unfortunately been swallowed up by the town centre surrounding it — put it this way, I’ve noticed the giant ridiculous Asda and car park next door when driving past but never seen this little gem. This is a proper pub with a great vibe — all traditional and the sort of place I’d like to take friends who travel from abroad to show them what a good British boozer is all about. There were all sorts of the usual Robinsons range and I went for the ‘double hop’ — a fantastic beer that’s not too crazy(4.8%) when the night looks like it’s getting in full flow! Make sure you hang out in the snug if you can — a private room which dissects the bar — I’m not saying any more, it’s just that cool!

This a little pub down the road from me. There is a good selection of beers and wines, it’s not the cheapest. The pub is cosy with old drinks posters on the wall, I do like it a lot. Also there is a snug you have to through the bar to get to, it feels very VIP. You don’t have to get up to order a drink. The food is always really good, I like the cheese pie. This place does get very busy so if your taking a few people out is best to book. The staff are lovely and helpful. Clean loos too,

The Arden Arms is a fantastic pub in the centre of Stockport. It’s a traditional boozer which has been done out really well. I love the posters on the walls and the fact they still have a snug. The outside area is excellent with heaters and decking. They also have live music there every Saturday night during the Summer which is free. The food is excellent quality pub grub. Everything is home made. Their cheese and onion pie is fantastic. The pastry is so good and the filling delicious. I also recommend the home made sponge puddings they do with homemade custard. Well worth a visit during lunch time. The owners are also super friendly as well.

Likable, small, Robbie’s pub. A nice atmosphere with a homely feel. Well-kept beer, although not much selection beyond the usual Robinson’s choices.(I can survive — I like Trooper and Dizzy Blonde well enough.) The food is pretty good — no Shoulder of Mutton, but definitely better than average. Think fish and chips, pies, etc.

That’s a quirky but super cool Stockport pub. The beer is properly poured, it’s heaving with customers from all walks of life and there’s a funny little back room accessed through the bar, litterally. Would defo drop by again when I’m in the area.

This Pub is steeped in history, and if you are into your very British pub experience where a direct link to the past can be seen around you as you sup your ale, then should make a visit to the Arden Arms! A fact that made me go there was the following — The interior of the pub today is included in the CAMRA National Inventory, a list compiled by the lobbying group of the only remaining 250 pub interiors(out of over 60,000) in Great Britain that remain of outstanding heritage interest! The 1908 bar from is still in place, and is definitely unlike I have ever seen, it is a floor to ceiling carved wooded masterpiece! there is beautiful original tiling too. and a lovely little snug to get cosy in! as you would expect with this calibre of bar, you can order from an array of beers! The beer is supplied by the famous independent Stockport Brewery, Robinsons, you will also find seasonal brews! The food is good too, on my visit I had 6oz Rump Steak & Caramelised Red Onions, Mustard Mayonnaise ciabatta for only £6.50 !! the menu is quite varied, but they stick to the best of British pub grub… nothing too fancy or trying too hard, just very good honest food!

There is no pub in the North with better, breezy service and cosy snugs than here. Great pub food without the maligned ‘gastro’ tag. Best of all, the range of drinks(for a robinson’s pub they’ve got inventive range and guest ales — lovely) and the staff make this a hidden gem. Homeliest pub you could ever feel welcome in

This is Stockport’s hidden gem. Opposite Matalan on the corner is an unassuming little pub. Inside, it’s cosy, welcoming and serves great food and drink. The bar is fantastic and original and there’s a little snug you can sit in by walking through the bar area, which is very cosy. You won’t want to leave. The menu cahnages everyday and is fantastic value for money, real home cooking with a bit of a gastro pub edge. It’s always popular, so go in, ask for a table, get a drink and wait your turn.
