While the owners of Chilli Massalla probably aren’t waiting by the phone every year for the Michelin guide to give them a call, we had a pretty pleasant night when popping in for an hour before the football on Tuesday night. We went for their set menu which basically consisted of a starter, choice of standard curry, a side(rice of bread) and ice cream/coffee for dessert — not too bad for £8.95. While the vege samosa was good and the chapati cooked well, I asked for my King Prawn Bhuna to be spicy but I didn’t detect a hint of heat in this dish unfortunately… it wasn’t like they forgot as they presented it to me as «here’s your spicy bhuna» sir. Not bad though — I paid an extra £1 to upgrade to king prawns and also paid an extra £1 to have 2 sides. It’s only Byob but there is a bargain booze next door! Not a bad place if you’re after a British style curry.
