Just a slice of cake and a cup of tea, but have been left disappointed. Unfortunately the cake was dry, even the carrot cake. The loose leaf tea tastes of another tea as they hadn’t cleaned out the filter pots properly. The waitress got us a fresh tea, which tasted better but she made no apologies and didn’t seem that bothered. I don’t like to post negative reviews but this is the 2nd visit within 6 months that has resulted in an unsatisfactory visit. Tea and cake is simple and easy to get right.

Good beer, reasonable food(although the Elizabethan has better imo) the open mic night night on Sunday night is really good, the woman who runs it has an amazing voice. During the day the place is a popular spot for local mothers and their children, which is great but be aware of this if you are going for a ‘quiet’ pint on a Sunday afternoon. Shame that this is one of only a couple of Kro bars remaining in Manchester now

I was meeting 3 friends(all with babies) for a bit of lunch and as soon as we walked in the staff were friendly and welcoming, happily accommodating us in a quiet booth around the corner that we could take over with prams and noise without getting in the way of anyone else. I think this place is a bit of a magnet for mums and babies during the day and so they obviously know how to look after them. Food on the other hand was just a bit rubbish, at least for me. I ordered the ‘homemade’ soup of the day which was as homemade as opening a tin of supermarket finest(presumably what they’d done). It was gloopy, tasteless and overly salted, just about the worst excuse for a bowl of soup you could find. My friends food all look ok(BLT bagel, fish finger sarnie and a halloumi sarnie) and I didn’t hear any complaints but none of it looked particularly special. I was unsure how to rate Kro as for a place to sit and have a natter for a while it’s quite nice but based on my lunch I wouldn’t return. Next time I’ll walk 5 mins further down the road and stop at Juniper.

This Kro is pretty much like all the other Kro bars and I felt sort of dirty going in it while there were so many other independant(I think…) delis and bars surrounding it. Which I’m sure are lovely. This branch of Kro is pretty crammed in, the tables are really close together, I went in the day time so there were lots of people squeezing and sorry-ing to each other to get seated. I like Kro because the food is reasonably priced, varied and the beer and cider selection is vast. On this occasion I ordered a sandwich which was delicious and well presented even if the salad was a little limp and sad looking :(. The service was pretty slack, and we didn’t get a coaster for our drinks which made me despondent. And that is why I gave it three out of five.

Among one of the five Kro Bars dotted around Manchester, Heaton Moor’s Kro like the rest of the clan, is relaxing and inviting bar and restaurant. Eating my bacon butty and coffee(which came in at under £3!) I enjoyed the light and airy space whilst managing to forget the turmoil over the planning of my mother’s 60 birthday party. This little haven gave me a well deserved rest from from the worries of table dressing, cake decoration and choosing purple or lilac ribbons(a crucial decision I hasten to add). Great staff and a great little menu that’s ideal for a quick breakfast or a light lunch. I would definitely recommend getting yourself a Sunday paper, settling down and enjoying one of the bacon/sausage/egg butties with a big mug of coffee here.
