mill farm riding school

Having had riding holidays from 10yrs old, ridden a friend’s horse in school lunchtimes at 14yrs and exercised race horses at 19, I hadn’t ridden regularly for many many years, I found Groupon with a super deal-​a brilliant way to get back in the saddle at a low cost. The trek advertised to gallop or canter over 200 acres of land and through Lyme Park. I booked onto an advanced trek looking forward to the experience. I have to say I was disappointed when we didn’t go to Lyme Park & instead set off and followed the side of fields between the hedge and an electric fence, joined the lane over the canal and across some nice land, through trees and a rocky river. Finally we had a chance to canter, but less than 100′, then plodded around again, along the field edge and a further canter again less than 100′ along the field edge. We didn’t get to Lyme Park! I did feel sorry for two beginners who’d booked themselves onto an advanced trek, but I feel I had been sold an advanced trek saying it would go into Lyme Park for cantering/​galloping and instead I felt as if I was on the beginner’s trek. I would like to say I’d recommend it, but on the day they had advertised it as something it wasn’t and I didn’t get to have the trek I thought I was going to get.

Finally went on my advanced riding trek 2day after having it cancelled before due to bad weather but had no problems rebooking even though my groupon was out of date and by waiting got to ride in perfect conditions :-)
Arrived in plenty of time and was greeted straight away, filled out my form then drove to the other site where the ride leaves from.
Rode a beautiful mannered Jake :-) Absolute star and had a fab trek with plenty of canters and gallops havent rode for a while but felt so safe and in control with Jake at all times. He can go fast but as soon as you ask him to slow up he listens immediately. Perfect gentleman.
We were taken on our trek by Ruth who totally makes you feel at ease and welcome from the first time you meet her :-) A great trek out with super friendly people had a fabulous day. Thanks so much

had a great time couldnt belive how amazing the horses were. Had a lesson in the school the first few times i went and today i went on the farm ride with one of the instructors it was such good fun, every one who rides should try it, i have been to all the other riding schools but now the only place i will ride is at mill farm you can tell all the horses are not only cared for but truly loved.
