Chatwins is probably recognised as the better quality baker in the North Staffordshire area.
The quality of their baked goods is great, and they keep a wide selection of pastries warm throughout the day.
If you’re never tried one you should have a go with a pork and apple slice, they’re great.

This is a really well located cake shop in hanley, just down the hill from the market, and in the summer its nicely in the shade but also sheltered from the hanley wind, so you can enjoy eating your cakes outside.
They are a little more expensive than cakes from some other shops, but the extra quality is noticeable, expecially in the cream cakes.
the sandwiches are also very nice. You can order birthday cakes, and although i;ve never from this branch, other chatwins have made really nice birthday cakes.

if you like naughty cakes then this is the place to go. they also sell pasties and cold quiches — the stilton and broccolli is out of this world. prices are expensive but well worth it.
staff are friendly and polite.
