Visited from a canal boat in August. Great location with plenty to watch as boats pass through the lock. Garden was full of wasps(can’t blame the pub) so ate inside where it was too warm. Food was adequate. Prices OK. Tables sticky. Leftovers from other diners’ lunches on the floor — and it wasn’t that busy. Loos were poor. Staff seemed a little distracted. Come on guys get your act together. You have a superb location and loads of potential. If you cleaned the place up a bit, tried just a little harder with the food and pretended you were pleased to see customers you’d have a goldmine. If you are after family friendly, good value food I’d recommend walking into town and eating in the Morrison’s café — £20 for a 2 course meal with drinks for 5! And the food was every bit as good as the Star.

It’s gone downbank. Not being cleaned(sticky bar, dirty tables, and toilets not the best!). Went today. asked for about three different drinks and they’d run out of everything! People complaining that central heating was jammed on even though it was boiling hot weather — bar staf said that landlady didn’t know how to turn it off! Girlfriend went to loo. no soap, no loo roll, dirty. Not visiting again!

Next to largish municipal car park, good meeting place for a few local beers before a trip to the Italian(nice pub food too if it’s too cold to cross the road :-).

Nice canalside pub, always busy, good pint of Banks’s — food your standard pub fare. Better in summer than in winter, when yhou can sit outside.

this is a lovely little pub located right next to the canal in Stone. It serves great food, nice for a quiet evening out with your partner.
