Called in here last week, to meet a friend who raves about the place, but having never been there before myself, I just went with the flow of what he said… However, having now been there, I must admit, I certainly will NOT be going back, the service is dreadful, and a lot of staff did not speak English, which made it VERY difficult to order what was on the Menu, even my friend was totally embarassed by the total experience, and has also sworn never to go back to this place. Seems like it has gone downhill lately. It was VERY quiet on the Friday night we were there, I think we know just WHY now…

I thoroughly enjoyed the food here! However, I thought the portions were a little on the small side and two hours after eating I was starting to get peckish…

This is a totally unremarkable, allegedly Japanese restaurant… Its food is ok, but thats is all, I have been there about 5 times in the last two years. Now, having the benefit of eating at various Japanese eateries around the globe, this aint the real McCoy, if you think it is, then dream on ! If there is more than just you eating in your party, then expect all your meals to arrive at totally different times. Some of your party might have completed their meals, while others in your group still await theirs ! Also, some side dishes you have ordered don’t appear either, but, they still bill you for them ! Another bugbear about this place is I ate there recently in company, the Asashi Lager is £3.60p a pint ~ not too bad. The tapwater is 50p a small glass, that equates to around £2 a pint ! I’ve never been charged before for a paltry glass of tapwater. In fact, the nearby Vietnam Restaurant is much better, and they don’t charge for tapwater there, as don’t nearby Asian restaurants in St Helens Road either !! What a RIPOFF !

We went there for lunch on one of the weekdays. And this place really surprised us. for starters we had pan fried dumplings. Came really quickly and not bad. My wife then went for the wasabi bento set(if I remember correctly, which contains sort of everything), and I went for the Chirashi set(which is Sashimi on sushi rice). The food in the bento box is well cook full of different varieties and really good value! Highly recommended! The plesant surprise came from the chirashi set. The variety and freshness of the seafood was really amazing. I didnt expect all these seafood at this affordable price. I gave four stars only because I found the Sashimi wasnt cut right. There were some tough tissue and it was too thickly cut(which you may argue for the good value!). I think this is because it wasnt prepare by a proper Japanese sushi. But well those chef took five years to train and I doubt you will find any in the UK! And the final surprise, all the waiter /waitress looked Japanese to us but after a while we were having nice conversations in CANTONESE! :-D

A great restuarant, and Swansea has been waiting for a Sushi restuarant for a while now(though saying that I’m not sure how long the one by the guildhall has been open). Well situated in Uplands, and uplands defintely needed another restuarant. The food is very good, with a lot on the menu. Of course it can be a little bewildering at first, but you’d get that with most Sushi bars if yuo’re a first timer. If you’re a first timer I’d recommend a bento box or a good soup, and wash it down with some tasty lager and saki. Excellent.

My partner gets a takeaway from here quite often because of the good discount you get when you takeaway. We have also eaten in here a few times and can say its always a pleasurable experience. I am not a big fan of eating in restaurants but there is a comfortable atmosphere here and is not normally too busy. I dont like fish so I mostly order noodle dishes but my partner loves the sushi and says she has not tasted better anywhere. They also do the best beer in the world which is called Asahi and is good enough reason on it’s own to go there.

I’m not a fan of sushi but I went to Wasabi with a friend who loves it there and while i didn’t like the food I did have great service. There was nothing wrong with the food, it’s just not food that I like so I don’t hold that against them. The staff really couldn’t do enough to help and the restaurant is really nice and comfortable.

I highly recommend Wasabi for an all round pleasurable dining experience! This place is a real treat, the biggest problem is choosing what to have. The most popular choice is the bento box, you get a taste of everything with this. For the main part of this meal you have loads of choices, such as teriyaki chicken, beef, seafood. You also get 3 pieces of californian roll, 2 gyoza, a tasty salad, plenty of rice and miso soup! Prices for this start at £9.50 and is more than enough for one person. The atmosphere is lovely, very relaxed and the staff are extremely friendly and everything is presented beautifully! Desserts are just as delicious, green tea cheese cake, wasabi ice cream! There is something here for everyone and it can get very busy as it’s clearly very popular, so I do recommend booking in advance! Also they do 20% off for takeaways which is a nice saving.

This has been a great addition to the Swansea restaurant scene. Great Japanese food and yummy sushi, authentically prepared. The restaurant has become very popular in a short space of time and on weekend nights is best to be booked. For those unfamiliar with Japanese food the ideal thing to try is a Bento box, this consists of a choice of main dishes accompanied by delicious sushi rolls, miso soup and rice plus good salad. However for the more adventurous souls there are lots and lots of sushi with all sorts of fish and interesting specials. One of my personal favourites has to be the deep fried chicken gyoza. Good fresh juices as well. Good value for money and great helpful service.
