Just an FYI… they are closed on Monday nights. We made that mistake once. We have been twice now and it can still easily be mistaken for a nightclub rather than a restaurant. Although I think it is trying to be a bit of both. On both nights, the ambiance was different… one night the music was quite loud and there was a large crowd of young guys that were a bit rowdy, putting Mr. Snarky off of the place, and on the other night it was quiet and intimate. The menu actually seems like a combination of two menus, the first is a more upmarket menu that you would find in a gastro pub while the other menu include pub classics and the presentation between the dishes on each section of the menu further confirms that they are almost two different menus. On the first visit, I had the steak and Mr. Snarky had the Lamb Shank. The steak was a bit fatty, but the triple cooked chips… mmmm although watch out, they retain a lot of heat. Mr. Snarky must have enjoyed his Lamb Shank a lot as I didn’t even get a bite! It was gone in the blink of an eye. On the second visit, I had the Pie of the Day with veg and Mr. Snarky had the Chicken and Chorizo Pasta with a Cajun Tomato Sauce. The Pie of the Day was Chicken and Leek and it actually comes with Dauphinoise Potatoes, but when I think of Pie, I think of Mash. So I asked to substitute the Dauphinoise Potatoes with Mashed Potatoes. And actually the menu doesn’t specify if it comes with any potatoes, just seasonal veg. The pie was delicious, although there isn’t much sauce, so if you decide to go for the mash with your pie, you may want to see about some gravy. The veg was nice, but perhaps someone got a bit carried away with the spices as I couldn’t really taste much of the veg. Mr. Snarky’s pasta was nice, but I didn’t taste any Cajun spices in the sauce. We suspect that the Chorizo may have overpowered any attempt at seasoning. However, the star of the night(well, my night) was the Bread and Butter Pudding made with croissants and white chocolate. It was lovely! The top was a bit crunchy and buttery while the rest of the pudding was gooey and custardy. It really is a very good dessert. Don’t ask me what Mr. Snarky had because after the first bite of my dessert, the rest of the night was a bit of a blur ;). Anyway, they do have some really good food, but sometimes the ambiance is a bit off.

Good food, slightly let down on a starter someone had which was the chicken & pancetta, topped with cheese sadly grated cheddar maybe something a little more worthy… Service was quick and the setting was light and airy, nice lunch and would return anytime.

Had a family dinner here. Everyone had steak and they were cooked perfectly. Atmosphere is nice with dim lighting and live music in the late evening.

A great place to both eat and drink. We ordered our table online at and the meal was fantastic, staff were very helpful. We then went away and came back in the evening, and the place was transformed the upstairs bars were the right sort of busy, me and my wife felt very comfortable. I would recommend it to anyway. Good job guys

Quite the swanky little place in Swindon! The atmosphere of the restuarant is lovely and everything is candlelit. There is live music, excellent food, and great staff. Today I had their Farm Chicken that came stuffed with creamed leeks, a top creamed potatoes and with sides of wild mushrooms. It was quite tasty overall. The jus that came with it could have been a bit more flavorful and I wish the chicken had not been cooked with the skin on it. Overall it was a great meal and their wine list was not bad either. PROS: Music, great staff, wonderful atmostphere, good food. CONS: Music was too loud for the small place and was hard to hear others.

We dropped in here today looking for a place to code away from home, it was pretty empty to start with(11am on a Sunday), but filled up out front fairly fast an hour later. We had the roast(Chicken for him, Pork for me), which is a tenner each and one of the tastiest I’ve had in a long while. I’d recommend this The Old Bank to anyone looking for tasty food and comfortable seating.

The Old Bank is a nice, upmarket pub located in Old Town. The menu is your typical pub fare but the quality is what i would call gastro food. Try their cod burger– very nice! There is a nice outdoor seating area at the back and the place has a great atmosphere at night.
