Our running club had arranged to meet at this pub and drink/eat there afterwards. The organizer had visited the pub to arrange this, and popped in the day before to confirm it was all ok. When we got there the irate landlord first told us to move our cars to the end of the car park, and once we had done this to his instructions told us to leave anyway, as he was was worried there would not be enough room for dinner guests to park. His was very unpleasant to us, given he knew we were coming. We moved to a nearby street to park (which the landlord could have suggested, but he was obviously far too angry) and after our run went to the Patriots Arms round the corner instead. Wow, what a difference! Friendly, welcoming, much better beer. I’m never going near the Plough Inn again, but at least it meant I discovered the Patriots Arms, a much better pub which I’ll certainly visit again.

The Plough Inn at Wanborough, near Swindon Wiltshire.
This is an excellent place to go for a friendly, relaxed environment with a great landlord and very helpful staff. It sells a good range of beers, both local and national in real, old world surroundings complete with log fires and a selection of bars, each with no piped music or juke boxes. All the staff are great and nothing is too much trouble.
It’s real star is the food which is all home made and absolutely delicious. It is very reasonably priced for something so good. Try it and I bet you won’t be disappointed — if you want anything special then ask as I’m sure they will do their best to help.

This is a pub/restaurant which is just off junction15 of the M4. Open all day and serving food very handy if you want a quick, no frills meal. Can always get in without booking but it is quite busy with passing trade. More of a place to eat than just go to for a drink. quick efficient service and the food isn’t bad either.
